When Jian Anning reached the bottom of the building, despite feeling chilly at heart, she knew that this incident had been Yu Zexiao’s doing, helping her save face. Without his support behind her, she would never have been able to stand up to Jiang Xuanqi.
Yet, when she thought about what he had done before, she felt quite troubled again.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Yu Zexiao turned around and saw Jian Anning staring at the back of his head with a complex expression. She remembered what Zexiao had said before: if Jiang Xuanqi dared to bully her again, she should tell him and he would help her settle it!
Indeed, she owed this incident’s smooth outcome to him. Although, she hadn’t initially planned to go for the photoshoot. Successfully annoying Jiang Xuanqi had satisfied her immensely.
Jian Anning didn’t respond but simply withdrew her gaze, staring off into the distant moonlight, pretending to wait for the nanny van to drive away.
"You’d better remember this," Yu Zexiao moved closer to her mysteriously, his soft lips approaching her ear, and whispered, "If you dare to resign tomorrow, I’ll make you famous around the world!"
His voice was not loud, but the heat of his breath, coming from the tip of his nose, brushed past her earlobe. The warm wind not only stirred the tender edges of her ear but also played with the soft hair by her ear. Although Zexiao’s voice carried a hint of smugness mixed with a veiled threat, she could somehow sense—almost just a little bit of—longing and reluctance.
