The deaths of Ruan Qun, Ruan Chi, and even the Ruanlin Family, were they really accidents?
Watching the Changchong slide limply outwards, Ruan Jiaojiao called out to it, "Changchong, wait a minute."
The moment she spoke up, Xiu Xi’s gaze next to her immediately sharpened, frightening the Changchong, which was happily about to slither back, nearly stumbled, and almost fell flat on its face. Standing outside the door, it tried to steady itself as best as it could, but couldn’t withstand the pressure emanating from Xiu Xi, trembling uncontrollably all over.
Yet it still didn’t want to leave, gazing eagerly at Ruan Jiaojiao.
"Brother Xiu, don’t be , I have something to ask it," Ruan Jiaojiao knew these animals were scared of Xiu Xi, she tugged on his hand, asking him not to scare it like that.
Xiu Xi was somewhat displeased.

"Alright then, I’m going to ask you, do you live on Qianshan? Are there many snakes there like the dark green ones, with pointy heads, and a little scar around the mouth? Is there such a snake there?"
Upon hearing this, the Changchong, which had been wriggling slightly, paused for a moment.
Xiu Xi also looked at Ruan Jiaojiao, expressing skepticism at her detailed description of a snake.
Ruan Jiaojiao didn’t look at him, her gaze remained on the Changchong.
The Changchong seemed to be thinking, or perhaps hesitating, and didn’t respond until Xiu Xi’s cold gaze fell upon it. It then hastily nodded; yes, there was a group of snakes like that on Qianshan, they were domineering with strong venom, a different breed from it. They each kept to themselves and never intersected.

All it knew was that a group of monkeys had once kidnapped her. Could it be that those shameless, ugly creatures, not a thousandth as beautiful as it, had done something similar? Should it also... In its excitement, the Changchong wriggled its body a bit more vigorously.

Ruan Jiaojiao couldn’t figure it out and fell into deep thought. Xiu Xi signaled with his eyes for the Changchong to scram, and although it was reluctant, under the duress of intimidation, it had no choice but to slide away resentfully.
By the time Ruan Jiaojiao snapped out of it, the Changchong was nowhere in sight.
"It had something to do and left," Xiu Xi answered, his face calm, his breathing steady.
Ruan Jiaojiao nodded, unconcerned, she took hold of Xiu Xi’s hand and asked, "Does Brother Xiu wonder why Jiaojiao asked that question?"
Xiu Xi looked at her and nodded.
Ruan Jiaojiao pulled him to sit on the threshold of the back door of the kitchen, extended her pinky, "Brother Xiu, I’ll tell you a secret, but you have to promise Jiaojiao not to tell anyone."
Xiu Xi, already familiar with this pinky promise game of hers, hooked his finger around hers skillfully.
"Pinky promise, hang for a hundred years, no take-backs, whoever breaks it is a doggy," Ruan Jiaojiao murmured solemnly.
