The Last King Of Darkness Chapter 285

Although it was not explicitly stated, the meaning was clear—he was about to take up a certain position in Royal City soon.

This was also Theodore’s arrangement.

The King had kept his promise.

Rod felt a surge of excitement in his heart; he had finally taken this step.

Molly, the dispatch officer with a cold expression, arranged a room for him and gave him a short-range Spiritual Energy communicator whistle, telling him to reach out to her anytime if he needed anything.

Rod washed up briefly and then went to bed.

This time, he did not use hand gestures but meditated according to the method taught by Theodore, entering the Dream Realm within a dream.

Darkness engulfed his spirit, and absolute silence pressed against his eardrums.

After an unknown amount of time, Rod suddenly felt he could open his eyes.

Thus, he once again saw the Dream Realm shrouded in quiet mist.

Everything was gray, like ashes after burning, the concept of color fading from every object.

Except for the Obelisk, it was the only thing in the Dream Realm with intense color.

The Obelisk now stood over a dozen yards tall, located right at the center of the Dream Realm, beneath it lay the vast Star Square, surrounded by cottages and altars, and in the distance, a white Jade Square where Theodore’s statue stood proudly.

No matter how many times he saw it, Rod could not help but marvel at its magic, which seemed to gather all miracles, bringing him new life and endless possibilities, but also death and danger.

But what it actually was, Rod still had no idea; he only knew that the Dream Realm actually had boundaries, drifting in the Spirit Realm’s River of Eternal Death.

And the crisis he currently faced required him to leave the River of Eternal Death.

However, he still did not know how to leave; he had thought he would acquire a Dream Fragment during this mission, but in reality, he had not.

Did I guess wrong? Did the Dean actually not think that far?

But then, when Rod walked into the cottage, he immediately noticed an additional object, a long silver platform at the far end of the room, directly opposite the Stone Platform at the forefront.

Suspended above the silver platform was a silver fog-like sphere. As soon as Rod touched it, his mind immediately received its information.

Rod’s eyes widened instantly—wasn’t this the tool mentioned in the Book of Knowledge that could manipulate the Dream Realm?

When had I obtained the Fragment?

Rod carefully recalled, finding no opportunity where he might have acquired a Fragment.

The Dream Fragment was strongly attractive to him; he could not have been unaware of it.

The only possibility was during the period of his Resurrection.

But unless the place of his Resurrection just so happened to have a fragment, it was hard to imagine how it had been done.

Rod thought about it for a while, decided not to dwell on it, and just let it be.

As long as the Dean was impressive enough, that was alright.

Now, the task was to quickly manipulate the Dream Realm and leave the River of Eternal Death to escape the invasion of the Ancient God Heragotos.

Rod tried to manipulate the Light Platform, but there was no response.

He consulted the Book of Knowledge, but the fellow still hadn’t recovered from its last bout of fury, stubbornly refusing to open its pages.

Just when Rod was at his wit’s end, he suddenly recalled the last time the book angrily told him not to touch its spine.

Hmm, maybe I could try that.

So, Rod frantically rubbed the spine of the book, and sure enough, the book opened with a pop, its pages flipping wildly as if in anger, yet unable to form a single word.

It seems that if I don’t ask, it cannot respond.

Rod thought, and asked, "How do I operate the Light Platform?"

A massive jumble of gibberish appeared on the Book of Knowledge, typing at such a furious speed that it resembled a programmer smashing a keyboard.

It was only after the gibberish had flipped through most of the book that normal Dream Realm text finally appeared.

"You shameless rogue! Scoundrel! Fiend!"

Each word took up an entire page, bold and in black.

Rod said with a smile, "Answer my question, or I’ll continue to hold you and touch you all the time, day and night, even when I sleep, not just the spine, but the front, back, and the seam under the pages of the book—I will touch them all."

The Book of Knowledge seemed to go berserk, all its pages trembling, making a snapping noise, almost as if it wanted to jump up and slap him to death.

Rod smiled and said, "I’ll ask again, how do I operate the Light Platform? You can choose not to answer."

Eventually, the Book of Knowledge calmed down, and a line of sloppy text appeared on a page.

"The Book of Knowledge must answer the master’s question, but I can fill it with ineffective answers. You must promise to feed me a hundred units of Spirituality every day, or I will never yield."

Rod smiled and said, "Alright, I promise." He then pulled out a hundred units of Spirituality from the Storage beneath the Stone Platform and fed them to it.

The Book of Knowledge swallowed the Spirituality with the floral pattern that formed its mouth, and it seemed much calmer. When Rod posed the question again, it responded.

"Inject your Spirituality into the silver core of the Light Platform."

"My Spirituality? Is it dangerous?"

"Spirituality is the lifeblood of the Soul, responsible for transmitting the power of the soul and the will of the spirit. As long as it is not overused, there is no danger."

"How do I extract my Spirituality?"

"Use the Spiritual Needle, pierce the soul." The Book of Knowledge elaborately explained the method to separate one’s own Spirituality.

The method was not difficult, and Rod quickly mastered it.

Watching the semi-translucent viscous substance ooze from the tip of his finger, he sincerely marveled.

"So it can be done . Does that mean items and materials with Spirituality all have a soul?"
