Scholar Amides spoke with great caution.
"The truth of the past has always been the goal that all of us have been pursuing."
"Here we have a saying, if you know what happened in the past, you will know what will happen in the future."
Rod said with a smile, "History always repeats itself, there is nothing new under the sun."
Scholar Oberon nodded, "That saying is very philosophical, did you see it in the ruins of Star Town?"
Rod was stunned, thinking that the impact of history really penetrated into every aspect, no matter what new things or theories, people’s first reaction is always to past history.
To avoid trouble, Rod simply admitted it.
Scholar Ricard mused, "It might not necessarily be from Star Town, I think it has been passed down from a much older era."
Scholar Amides said, "Right, the history of the Starry Kingdom is less than a thousand years old, it wouldn’t have such a profound sense."
"Another point," Scholar Delan added, "the Starry Kingdom was in the Third Epoch, during which the Black Fog had already obscured the sun, so they would not have created such a proverb, so it must have come from the more distant, sun-visible Second Epoch."
Rod inwardly marveled, just from this phrase, they could deduce so much, and it seemed quite sensible.
If I didn’t know any better, I might have believed it.
Amides then asked, "How much do you know about history?"
"Hmm... I know we are in the Dark Epoch, before that there was the Third Epoch, during which the Starry Kingdom existed, there was also Black Fog and monsters, and even before that was the Second Epoch, the era of the Ancient Gods apparently."
Amides nodded, "You know enough, much more than the average warrior."
Scholar Oberon laughed, "You are so wise, why not switch to the Hall of Knowledge? I could take you on as my sole student."
Scholar Amides shook his head.
"The Archbishop would go mad, our young hero Rod is now a big shot at the Royal City."
Everyone laughed, knowing it was impossible to make Rod switch professions.
While knowledge is important, they also knew, it was an uncertain future.
Combatants are the pillars of the present, and if they can’t hold up now, there would be no future.
Amides continued, "Let me start from the beginning, do you know about the creation myths?"
"Not... very clearly."
Amides smiled, unconcerned.
"Legend has it that the universe was a boundless sea of fire, and one day, when the fire went out, the Spirit Realm formed."
Rod exclaimed, "The Spirit Realm?"
"Yes, incredible, isn’t it? But we have recently confirmed that among the Three Realms, the first to emerge was indeed the Spirit Realm, boundless and extending to the end of time."
"Then, the Sea of Source emerged, it is the underlying logic and rules of the world, the source of all energy production and annihilation."
"The last to emerge was the Main Material World, our world."
The meeting room was silent, everyone listening to Amides’ account.
Although they already knew it, each listening brought different experiences and highlighted previously unnoticed details.
"On the day it emerged, the Spirit Realm underwent a massive tremor, divided into four layers: Inner Spirit Realm, Outer Spirit Realm, Upper Spirit Realm, and Uppermost Spirit Realm, each separated by vast spatial breaks and towering position barriers, extremely hard to overcome, and the Main Material World corresponds to the Inner Spirit Realm."
"The Sea of Source also trembled, clear sources rose up, becoming the fundamental rules of all new things, and muddied sources condensed, becoming Source Materials, scattered across the world."
"Thus, the laws governing the world’s operations were largely established. This period is known as the Chaos Epoch, recounting the process from the dawn of heaven and earth to the birth of all things."
"Due to its ancient nature, it lacks a definite timeline, so we just allocate all history from tens of thousands of years ago to it."
Amides paused, a wistful expression crossing his age-worn face, he continued.
"After the Chaos Epoch, there came the legendary Bright Epoch, also known as the Epoch of Gods, Ancient Epoch."
"This is our second epoch."
"Legends say, in the early days of this epoch, every day was a clear Fire Day, Sun Day, Bright Festival, where people could travel freely on the earth without fear of Black Fog or monster attacks."
"During this epoch, gods and humans fought side by side, magnificent Divine Cities spread across the earth, and their primary enemies were the Abyss, occasionally also demons, demon spirits, giant dragons, or evil giants."
Rod exclaimed, "Divine City?"
Amides slightly nodded, "The city where gods reside. Each Divine City was a capital of a human kingdom. Gods usually lived in the temple at the highest point of the Divine City, receiving people’s offerings and fighting for the citizens they protected."
"The Sagus Ancient City, where the Doomsday believers obtained the Book of Destiny, was such a Divine City."
Rod furrowed his brow; he remembered that the Book of Knowledge told him that various regions in the Upper Spirit Realm were actually remnants of destroyed Divine Countries.
But Amides said that Divine Cities were on the surface, where gods and humans lived together.
This clearly didn’t match up.
