The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad Chapter 438

It seems they are serious.

"I won’t divorce him. I love him, and no one can separate us."

The man raised an eyebrow and sat on the sofa nearby.

"Then you’ll stay here until you’re willing to divorce."

Eleanor Hollis found it amusing. This man has such good conditions, why bother with a married woman like her.

"Sir, you are handsome, and seem wealthy. There’s really no need to waste time on me. You know I’m married and I’ve also lost a child."

She tried to speak of herself as pitifully as possible, hoping the man would change his mind.

But the man just glanced at her lightly and took a sip of the red wine on the table.

"I mentioned before, I have a marriage contract with you. It’s just that Old Master Quinn doesn’t like me, that’s why he didn’t tell me you were alive."

"We are strangers. You can’t ruin your whole life over an arranged childhood marriage. I’ll talk to Grandpa to cancel the betrothal with you right away."

Eleanor appeared anxious, eager to return to Hugo Quinn’s side.

A flicker of coldness passed through the man’s eyes as he heavily placed the wine glass down.

"Do you really have no impression of me at all?"

She had actually forgotten him completely.

Eleanor stiffened; she didn’t remember knowing such a handsome man.

"I think you’ve mistaken me for someone else."

Just as she finished speaking, she saw the man stand up and open the door next to them.

"I know if I’ve mistaken you. Eleanor, your tricks won’t work on me. If you want to leave here, sign the divorce agreement early."

Eleanor felt somewhat powerless, watching the man close the door, sighing.

This man is really mysterious, talking about marrying her. Who would marry a stranger they met once?

She sat on the sofa wanting to call Hugo Quinn, only to find her phone had been confiscated.

In the evening, the butler came in to bring her food.

"Who exactly is your master?"

She wanted to know the power of this man, wondering if Hugo Quinn stood a chance against him.

The butler placed the food in front of her and bowed respectfully.

"Miss Dawson, don’t expect Hugo Quinn to come and rescue you. If he comes here, he would only die here, not take you back."

Eleanor shivered, anxiously stood up, but as soon as she reached the door, several bodyguards stopped her.

She sighed, turned around, and sat back on the bed.

She had been brought to a bedroom; the room was spacious with many female items, and there was food set on the dining table, but she had no appetite.

She pulled open the curtains, seeing how high up they were from the ground, and gave up the idea of jumping.

She couldn’t make sense of who that man was, strong and handsome. If she’d seen him before, she would’ve remembered at first sight.

Eleanor sat on the stool, mechanically putting food into her mouth.

She didn’t suspect the food was poisoned; if they wanted her dead, she wouldn’t be alive now.

After a few bites to fill her stomach, a memory flashed in her mind.

As a child, she forgot how old exactly, she seemed to have saved a little boy.

It was pouring rain; he was all covered in wounds, with a large pool of blood below him.

When she met him, she thought he was dead.

With all her strength, she dragged him to a sheltered place and used all her pocket money to buy medicine from a countryside clinic.

Her grandmother didn’t know about it, she quietly settled him in an abandoned house. The owner had moved to the city, leaving the old rural house empty where no one would go. Fresh chapters posted on 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵·𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮·𝓷𝓮𝓽

She visited him every day, checking on him for two days, and when she went again, he was gone, leaving no trace.

She thought she’d dreamt it.

When she told her grandmother she had met a wounded fairy, her grandmother didn’t believe a word.

She didn’t remember this little episode; to her, it was like a childhood dream, something she was unsure about as time passed.

Felix Ford was holding a glass of wine, staring at the sunset outside, when the butler came to his side.

"Miss Hollis has eaten those things. Sir, they’re asking for her over there."

Felix responded with a light "Mhm," tapping the table with his fingertips.

He got up and went to the hall, finding a man already seated there.

"Is Eleanor Hollis with you?"

The man’s tone was familiar, as if they were friends.

"I do not plan to hand her over."

Felix sat opposite him and poured him a glass of wine.

The man’s expression darkened for a moment, then sighed.

"You can’t still be holding onto the childhood betrothal, can you? The entire Dawson Family has forgotten about it. Only you remember, the old master didn’t even mention you. The animosity between the Dawson and Ford families can’t be erased by a childhood betrothal."

The visitor was the adopted son of the Dawson elder, Eleanor’s brother, but he clearly didn’t acknowledge her as a sister.

"The Dawson Family must fall into my hands. Neither Ashley Dawson nor Eleanor Hollis can give birth to a son. Felix, you know I’ve waited too long for this moment; no one can destroy my plan."

Dylan Dawson’s eyes were sinister, seeing Felix still hesitating, he smirked.

"I didn’t realize you were romantic, but you and she hardly have any connection, right? Could you really fall for someone you met only once?"

"Dylan, she saved me. She’s the girl I talked about."

Dylan’s face froze, and the gloom vanished instantly.

Felix Ford, the illegitimate son of the Ford family, hunted by them, ended up in a desolate place with only half a life. If not for the girl who treated his wounds, he would’ve died. Dylan knew about this and was deeply grateful to that girl.

It was also because of this pursuit that Felix severed all family ties with the Fords. Once he grew powerful, he banished all the Ford members, including those idle heirs. Now, the Ford family was entirely under Felix’s control.

"Even so, you can compensate her in other ways; marriage isn’t necessary. Don’t tell me you love her, you don’t even know what love is. Felix, we live in darkness, and we’re fated to be enemies with the Quinton Family."

Felix said nothing, his fingers tapping slowly on the rim of the wine glass.

"Old Master Quinn is already dead, Hugo Quinn wasn’t involved in that incident."

He spoke calmly, not wanting this person to be blinded by hatred.
