The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad Chapter 493

However, pitiable people must have some hateful qualities.

There were wild fruits growing on a tree nearby, she picked a few, washed them, and sat silently eating.

She hated herself for not being able to harm such a vile person.

Dylan Dawson, who was still asleep, seemed no longer so afraid, even his tightly furrowed brows had relaxed.

Eleanor Hollis left him some fruit. Seeing the trees everywhere, and noticing that the cliff in front of her was nearly vertical, returning the way they came was nothing but a pipe dream.

She got a clear understanding of the situation, suddenly hearing a gurgling noise from her stomach. Clearly, just eating a few wild fruits wasn’t enough to fill her belly.

Dylan opened his eyes, seeing the blue sky and white clouds above, feeling a bit dazed at the fact that he was still alive.

He turned his head and noticed Eleanor sitting beside him. After getting up, he discovered a pond in front of him, his face turned pale, and he quickly moved some distance from the water.

The rippling water resembled a curse etched in his mind, making him uneasy, even fearful. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵•𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑒•𝙣𝙚𝙩

When Eleanor turned her head, she found Dylan sitting far away, his dark eyes fixed on her.

She scratched her head in confusion; it was strange he hadn’t strangled her outright, it was not like Dylan’s character at all.

Dylan’s lips were dry, and his voice was a bit hoarse from not drinking water for a long time.

Before falling off the cliff, he had thought about dying together with Eleanor.

If this woman died, his vendetta would be over.

He was afraid of water, even if it was a pond below, falling into it would be certain death. It seemed Eleanor must have saved him.

Eleanor nodded, looking at him puzzled.

"Are you afraid of water?"

Dylan’s behavior was too abnormal now, and he was far from the water, as if facing a great enemy.

Dylan shook his head, his hands already clenched.

He didn’t want Eleanor to know he was afraid of water; it was about a man’s dignity.

Eleanor stood up and patted her pants.

"Let’s go, let’s look for another way out, returning the way we came is clearly impossible."

"Why did you save me?"

When he said "save," Dylan’s voice softened a bit. For the first time, someone was willing to save him.

He had been strong enough before, so strong he didn’t need anyone’s help.

Eleanor rolled her eyes.

"It’s not that I really wanted to save you. When we fell into the water, you clung tightly to my waist. If I had hesitated, we would likely both be dead."

Dylan lowered his eyes. He now had no strength in his body; just walking from the water’s edge to here had drained all his energy.

He calmly stated the fact, looking down at his feet.

"Then stay here for now, I’ll go see if there’s another way out, and bring back some food. Oh, those wild fruits are for you, just eat some for now."

After saying this, she almost left without looking back.

Dylan’s eyes flickered, and he pursed his lips.

He was very scared, more scared than ever before, especially with a pond in front of him. He constantly felt something might emerge from it to drag him in.

He wanted Eleanor to move him further away, out of sight of the pond, but she had already left.

Dylan looked at the scene in front of him, his face growing paler, finally slowly taking the fruit beside him to eat.

Yet the more he ate, the stronger the fear became.

It felt like the whole world had only him left, he swallowed nervously, glancing the direction where Eleanor had left.

Did she really go seeking a way out, or did she leave him and sneak away?

Surely she abandoned him here, didn’t she? He was destined to be someone nobody loved.

Dylan smiled self-deprecatingly. He actually believed Eleanor hadn’t abandoned him. How pathetic.

He wanted to get up, but his body was simply powerless, so he could only watch the sun gradually set over the horizon.

For three whole hours, it was still just him here alone.

He felt cold, couldn’t help but shiver, but it was pointless. The chill came from deep inside, like a man disgusted with himself.

The sound came from the grass, and his whole body tensed; here by the pond, anything made him afraid.

"There’s a path over there, I saw a few houses, there should be a village. I wandered further than I thought, almost couldn’t find the way back. You must be starving, right? Eat up."

Eleanor carried a roasted rabbit, her gaze clear.

Dylan stared at her in a daze. He thought she’d gone far, but she had actually come back.

Eleanor was oblivious to his emotional turmoil, sitting down by herself.

"Hurry and eat. The village is some distance from here. It took me a lot of time back and forth. I don’t want to support a big guy like you walking, it’ll tire me to death."

Indeed, her face was full of fatigue, the rabbit missing a quarter, probably eaten by her.

Dylan’s throat felt choked, he couldn’t get a single word out.

She hadn’t abandoned him, thankfully, she came back.

At that moment, he even felt an urge to cry.

He turned his face away, eating the rabbit in bites, choking and coughing.

"Eat slower, no one’s gonna snatch it."

Eleanor rolled her eyes and lay nearby, staring quietly at the sky in a daze.

She wondered how Hugo Quinn was doing now, realizing she was missing must have driven him mad.

Indeed, Hugo was almost out of his mind because Dylan had taken Eleanor, and he didn’t know where.

No surveillance could find any information on the two; they seemed to have vanished.

Dylan even left a message for him.

— How does it feel to lose your beloved? Your Quinton Family made me lose my parents, so I’ll let you lose this woman. Don’t bother looking, no matter how long, you won’t find us. I’ll find a deserted place to kill her.

Hugo looked at this message, feeling cold all over, his body uncontrollably shuddering.

After Samantha Sullivan came back that night, he had rushed over with his people, but found nothing. Instead, he got injured and lay in a hospital bed for a day and a night.

The doctor said a bullet was a millimeter off from killing him.

But he didn’t have time to worry about his injury, immediately sending people everywhere to find Eleanor, but so far, there was no news.

Dylan had truly done what he said, taking Eleanor somewhere nobody knew.

"President, Mr. Dawson is here, saying he’s come to check on your condition."

Lan Yancy respectfully said in front of the hospital bed. Everyone looked a bit worn out, since Eleanor disappeared, no one had rested.
