In Qiaoqiao’s Dad’s eyes, his wife appeared frail, exuding a kind of broken beauty.
But in the eyes of Hua Jinyan and Little Taotie, there was a little baby perched on her shoulder, emitting black smoke all over!
Suddenly, the little baby raised its head; its eyes were pitch-black, devoid of any white. It grinned, revealing a toothless mouth as dark and abyssal as a deep, sinister chasm.
This was an Evil Spirit.
A newborn child had actually become an Evil Spirit.
The little baby opened its toothless mouth and bit down hard on the mother’s shoulder, seemingly with all its might. The pair of pitch-black eyes swirled with black vortices, filled with hatred.
An overwhelming resentment and grievance surrounded it!
The woman’s breathing grew fainter, she clutched her shoulder, her footing slipped as if she were about to tumble down the stairs.
Qiaoqiao’s Dad and the butler rushed over at the same time to support her.
After all, the butler was young with swift steps, and he reached her first to support the sickly beauty.
"Madam, are you alright?" The butler, mindful of the male protagonist’s presence, spoke with a tone filled with lowliness and respect, as if simply doing what a butler was supposed to do.
Seeing the mistress nearly fall, as a butler, it was only natural to assist her.
Qiaoqiao’s Dad was a step behind but did not notice anything amiss.
However, the attentive Hua Jinyan swept his gaze over the mistress and the butler.
"What’s wrong with you, how could you be so careless?" Qiaoqiao’s Dad said with a mix of concern and reprimand.
The woman rubbed her shoulder, her expression pained: "Maybe my periarthritis is acting up."
"Quick, sit down on the sofa." Qiaoqiao’s Dad helped his wife towards the sofa, while the butler sensibly let go of his hold and did not follow. Instead, he stood respectfully with his head bowed at the foot of the stairs.
In the view of Hua Jinyan and Little Taotie, the Evil Spirit baby slid off the woman’s shoulder, hopped a few times on the ground, then with a leap, jumped onto the butler!
It landed on the butler’s head and began pulling at his hair.
The butler felt a throbbing headache but he had always had this problem and didn’t make much of it.
The Evil Spirit baby seemed to find the pulling boring after a while, so it opened its abyss-like, toothless mouth and bit down!
Its mouth grew wider, its facial expression twisted, and it swallowed the butler’s head whole.
Even though it was just a Spiritual Body and couldn’t actually bite off the butler’s head, this scene was still a visual shock, sending shivers down one’s spine.
Little Taotie gasped, looking at the Evil Spirit baby with some dilemma.
The Evil Spirit baby locked eyes with Little Taotie, blinked its pitch-black, white-less eyes, and the black vortexes inside them spun rapidly. It seemed to have realized that Little Taotie’s gaze was fixed on it and that it was seen.
Having grown tired of playing with the butler’s head, the Evil Spirit baby let go, spitting out the butler’s head once more.
Although the Spiritual Body couldn’t truly bite off the butler’s head, it still caused him intense pain.
The butler felt like he was about to suffocate.
This kind of headache had never occurred before; previously his pain was intermittent, like electric shocks, but this time it was as though he was suffocating, his entire head being squeezed, his brain about to explode from the pain.
Tears streamed down due to the agony at his trigeminal nerve.
Suddenly, the pain disappeared as quickly as it came. The butler found this peculiar but didn’t think much of it, only planning to get checked when he was free.
The Evil Spirit baby slowly drifted toward Little Taotie, stopping a short distance in front of her. The pitch-black eyes without whites slowly changed, becoming normal eyes, clear with black and white, full of confusion and innocence.
