Tang Shu stood up and poured him a glass of water. A glance at the document in his hand told her that he had been interviewing a few assistants.
"How’s the research project going on your side?"
"Smoothly, don’t worry, our students at Medical University, except for you, are all eager to join my team!"
Professor Yu’s proud chin tilt betrayed a touch of regret that Tang Shu had initially declined to become his apprentice.
"How come you have so much going on at such a young age? You seem even busier than this old man."
Tang Shu smiled lightly without saying anything, while Old Madam Yu had already finished reviewing the article and written a few concluding remarks below.
"Xiao Shu can’t be compared with you. You are only versed in Chinese medicine. Now look at Xiao Shu, a student of Chinese medicine who can study stone tablet inscriptions better than those young people from the Chinese literature department."
"Oh? From the sound of it, you rate this assignment quite highly?"
Although Professor Yu was a leading figure in the world of traditional Chinese medicine, having a spouse who studied classical Chinese literature meant he was inevitably influenced by her expertise and occasionally ventured into some textual research himself.
At these words, his interest was piqued, and he sat next to his spouse to take a look at the document.
Upon inspection, he indeed found a pleasant surprise.
"Is this the batch of stone tablet inscriptions that were unearthed last time? Hadn’t you guys been unable to decipher them yet?"
"Yes, I didn’t expect Xiao Shu to be able to understand it; these are even older than the ones found before."
The history of stone tablet inscriptions is very long, with variations across different eras.
This is a historical evolution. The more ancient the era, the harder it is to study, and it also increases the workload for some researchers. The inscriptions in Old Madam Yu’s hands were originally sent by others hoping that the old lady could decipher them.
Old Madam Yu, who had originally wanted to advise Tang Shu against being distracted and failing to accomplish anything, suddenly swallowed her counsel.
Indeed, there are such people in the world who can easily reach heights unattainable by others.
"I thought at my age I had seen many geniuses, but I didn’t expect to encounter such a remarkable young talent like you."
Tang Shu once again filled his empty teacup and humbly said, "I dare not claim to be such; I am still young and have much to learn from you."
Professor Yu waved off the modesty, remembering the task at hand, "You mentioned earlier that the finals are coming up soon. The research project I am responsible for is about to start. Except for a seven- or eight-day holiday over the New Year, I will be spending the rest of the time in the lab, and so will the assistants. Will that be a problem for you?"
Tang Shu thought about the schedule that Yang Tiantian had given her and pondered for a moment.
"I won’t have any problems. The drama crew will film my parts in advance. If you need me, I will rush back from home as soon as possible."
After all, research cannot stop.
"How did today’s interviews go?"
"Pretty well, had a chat with a few students. There are two graduates with a decent foundation, but I plan to select one or two undergraduates as well."
Then, the two of them began discussing the research direction of Snow Soul Grass.
After Old Madam Yu packed up the assignment and used the fax machine in the study to send it off to a few archaeologist friends, it was time for dinner.
