The Martial Artist Turned Movie Mogul Chapter 69

Chapter 69: 68. National Mechanical Research Institute Chapter 69: 68. National Mechanical Research Institute “The Sleeve Arrows you asked me to make last time have been finished. I’ve made seven of them, and they’re all quite powerful.”

“Are they to your liking?”

“Of course, in a certain sense, they’re much more efficient than firearms.”

Wen Nuan chuckled lightly, glancing at her while driving.

Tang Shu also smiled and said nothing.

She had guessed somewhat about Wen Nuan’s identity, but had always refrained from asking outright out of respect. It seemed that the other party didn’t intend to keep it a secret either.

Both seemed to attitude of not stating the obvious, yet having crystal-clear mutual understanding.

An hour later, the Hummer stopped in front of the gates of a huge experimental base in the East District of the Imperial Capital.

Through the car window, Tang Shu saw numerous people with wooden crossbows on alert. Beyond that, she keenly felt the presence of several more hidden in the shadows.

This level of martial law could compare to the Tang Sect’s mansion.

As the two of them alighted from the vehicle and walked towards the entrance, Tang Shu deeply felt the serious atmosphere around her. Most of the passing personnel were dressed very formally, exuding a strong scholarly air.

Wen Nuan led her smoothly through, swiping a card to enter a laboratory three floors down. The door opened to a room brimming with metallic parts.

As Tang Shu looked around, she equated this place known as the National Mechanical Research Institute with the Damo Workshop Department.

Their purpose for existence was nearly identical.

The difference was, the Damo Workshop Department hadn’t garnered much attention, while in a modern age post-industrial revolution, it was more important than ever.

This was the disparity between two completely different eras.

“Everyone’s off work at this hour, so feel free to look around.”

Wen Nuan casually placed the car keys aside and pulled out a few papers from a pile of documents on the desk, spreading them out before them.

“These are the blueprints I sent you last time. I remember you made some modifications on your end…”

As she explained, Tang Shu’s attention was drawn to the design blueprints in front of her.

It was a civilian helicopter design, something she admittedly didn’t understand.

However, when she had the Plants & Herbs Hall craft the Sleeve Arrows last time, Wen Nuan, with her permission, applied the mechanism principles herein.

Afterwards, the two often discussed design aspects of the mechanism over WeChat, gradually becoming familiar with each other.

This led to today’s visit.

After listening to her explanations, Tang Shu pondered for a moment and picked up a pencil to make a change on one part of the design.

“The rebound performance here isn’t strong enough. Adding a buffer would improve it…”

The Tang Sect was world-renowned for its Hidden Weapons and Poison Techniques, and when it came to discussing Hidden Weapons Mechanism, Tang Shu was among the best.

By the time the two of them had made almost perfect changes to the design in front of them, it was about 9 p.m.

After tidying up the materials on the desk, Wen Nuan stretched.

“Shall I invite you to a late-night snack?”

Tang Shu tilted her head to look at her, “Is it meant as a thank-you?”

“Well—if you put it that way, I won’t bother applying for additional consulting funds for you.”

The other’s tone was obviously teasing. Tang Shu was at a loss for words, “Then I suppose I’ll pay for this meal.”

She was keenly aware that she was still a student, yet the independent Tang Shu found it impossible to ask Father Tang for money, so she decided to earn it herself.

As neitzens would say, if she could “shear” some wool in the socialist system, why not?

The latter raised an eyebrow in surprise and followed her lead.
