Ling Momo looked at Chen Wanru on the bed for a moment. Chen Wanru wasn’t the kind of stunning beauty that took your breath away, but she had the sort that once seen was hard to forget. Plus, with ten years of honing her craft, even now in sleep, her whole being still radiated a special kind of charisma.
That kind of lofty, queen-like aura.
Ling Momo had been fussing around for so long, and she was very tired. Originally, she planned to go home, but seeing Chen Wanru so drunk, she felt uneasy at heart and ended up sleeping on the couch in the living room.
When Ling Momo woke up, it was already noon. She tiptoed to the bedroom and saw Chen Wanru sleeping soundly. Thinking that Chen Wanru must be feeling awful and have a headache after drinking so much, Ling Momo went to the kitchen to cook some congee.

Ling Momo turned off the burner, set it to keep warm, and let it stew.
It was the scent of the congee that woke Chen Wanru. She opened her eyes, dazed at first, then came barefoot to the kitchen.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, Ling Momo slowly turned her head and saw Chen Wanru, smiling gently, "Wanru, you’re awake? Have some congee."
As she spoke, Ling Momo took a bowl and ladled out some congee.
Chen Wanru looked at Ling Momo, slightly furrowing her brows, then thinking back to everything that had happened the night before, she rasped, "Was it you who brought me home yesterday?"
Chen Wanru didn’t speak further but took the bowl of congee from Ling Momo’s hand, sat down at the dining table, and began to eat slowly. After a couple of spoonfuls, she noticed Ling Momo still standing there and nodded toward the seat across from her as if to say, "Aren’t you eating?"
Detecting the implied question in Wanru’s tone, Ling Momo immediately served herself some congee and sat down across from her.
Chen Wanru’s eating manner wasn’t exactly elegant, more like wolfing down her food. It was hard to associate her with the dignified and proud singing diva seen on screens.
After finishing one bowl, it seemed not enough for Chen Wanru. She casually stood up, served herself another bowl, then sat down in front of Ling Momo again. This time she ate more leisurely, occasionally lifting her head to glance at Ling Momo.
Ling Momo noticing that Chen Wanru kept looking her way, flashed a small smile back.
Chen Wanru smiled as well, then stirred her bowl with her spoon, nodding, "This congee is really tasty."
Chen Wanru nodded again, "And thank you for last night."
Ling Momo had thought that Chen Wanru would be difficult to approach, but surprisingly, she was rather approachable. Now hearing Chen Wanru praise her congee and thanking her, she couldn’t help but feel unexpectedly flattered and politely responded, "No need to thank me."
