Ling Momo made a couple of attempts to break the stifling silence, but each time after she spoke, the only response was endless silence. Eventually, she simply closed her mouth and stopped talking.
After finishing his meal, Li Qingshen put down his chopsticks, then stood up. Ling Momo, with her mouth full of food, saw Li Qingshen leaving and squinted her eyes, smiling as she said, "Teacher, are you full?"
Ling Momo then looked at Li Qingshen’s bowl, which was still more than half full, and noticed that he hadn’t touched much of the dishes on the table. She continued, "Teacher, are you not feeling well? Why did you eat so little?"
Turning her eyes, Ling Momo added, "Teacher, are you still ill? Have you taken your medicine?"
Li Qingshen finally stopped, turned his head to look at Ling Momo. His handsome face was eerily calm, causing Ling Momo’s heart to skip a beat, and she immediately shut her mouth.
Li Qingshen withdrew his cold gaze without saying a word, and went upstairs on his own.
Ling Momo realized Li Qingshen seemed to be in a bad mood. As she continued eating, she carefully reviewed their interactions in her mind, confirmed that she hadn’t done anything to upset him, and thus felt justified in finishing her meal, washing the dishes, and going to her room to rest.
For the next two days, Li Qingshen maintained a frosty demeanor, keeping people at arm’s length. Fortunately, Ling Momo had grown accustomed to his unpredictable temper and became even more cautious. After enduring three tedious days, Ling Momo breathed a sigh of relief, immediately gathered her things, called the taxi company, and bid farewell to Li Qingshen and left.
Ling Momo exited the villa, and while waiting for the taxi that hadn’t yet arrived, she listlessly stood by the roadside, kicking pebbles.
Standing at the roadside, still without a taxi in sight and with no reply to her WeChat messages from Enson, her mood had been particularly low lately. Thus, she kicked pebbles while continuously thinking about Enson.
Suddenly, the sound of a horn caught her attention. Ling Momo lifted her head and saw a familiar car. Before she could recall whose car it was, the window was already rolling down slowly.
