The Player's POV Chapter 146

"What is that sound?"

Everyone stopped when they heard that strange voice.

It wasn’t because they lost focus.

It was because that voice really forced them to stop, calming their mood.

And then, everyone started to glance around.

But, no matter what they did, they still couldn’t find the owner of that voice anywhere.

— What? Surprised, right?

— Let me introduce myself.

Meanwhile, that voice continued.

— I am Alaric Valthor, the messenger sent to Earth by Hero Dix to save you, to save humanity.

To all of humanity, Hero Dix was no different from a god.

Even though hundreds of years had passed since Hero Dix passed away, he still had a special place in everyone’s hearts.

All of humanity respected him.

And they were also willing to obey Hero Dix’s every command.

Even if he told them to commit suicide.

It sounded crazy, but it was the truth.

Because if there was no Hero Dix, how could they be here now?

If Hero Dix had never existed, then perhaps by now, the world would have been invaded by the demon race.

And now, they heard the voice of the messenger sent by Hero Dix.

"...We... have hope!"

For a moment, a ray of hope flashed in everyone’s eyes.

But, Alaric’s next words made them freeze.

— You are a bunch of despicable people, people who shouldn’t exist, people who only bring shame to humanity.

"We were just cursed?"

They stood there, dumbfounded, not understanding what was going on.

They needed an explanation.

And fortunately, it came right after that.

— Hundreds of years ago, all of humanity joined hands to restore peace, but now, look at what you have done?

— Many people sacrificed their lives in that war, but you do not cherish the peace that was achieved from the blood and corpses of millions of lives.

— You may not know, or have forgotten, but the kingdoms... and the empire... were inspired by the seven great heroes who sacrificed their lives for the peace of this world.

— And their purpose... is to hope for eternal peace.

Everyone was completely speechless.

They really didn’t know what else to say.

What Alaric said... they all knew and remembered.

And just like his words, they didn’t know how to cherish this peace.

Instead of building a bright future together, keeping the peace together...

...They chose to destroy it.

Making war with another kingdom.

Killing many humans, their own kind.

Although these people didn’t participate in the war, they had no intention of doing anything to stop it. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⚑𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⚑𝕟𝕖𝕥

On the contrary, they felt happy, wishing for their side to win.

But, the price of victory... was that the entire other side had to be killed.

— I don’t ask you to like each other, but I don’t want you to hate each other to the point of causing a war .

Honestly... they were no different from criminals.

— How do you think the seven great heroes, the brave soldiers, the humans of the past would feel when they knew that the future they sacrificed for had become so rotten?

They would feel very desperate.

— Do you feel that you are worthy of the lives that have fallen, the drops of blood that have been shed on the battlefield?

At that moment, all of humanity unconsciously clenched their fists.

— You always say that you should worry about the present and the future, and that the past will only be history.

— I do not agree with that.

— If there was no past, would the present you are in and the future you are aiming for exist?

At that moment, everyone’s heart suddenly swelled with an emotion.

But, they weren’t angry because they were humiliated.

They were angry at themselves, angry at what they had done.

But unfortunately, they didn’t have a time machine to go back in time and fix their mistakes.

They couldn’t change the past, that was the truth.

If that was the case, they would try to change the future.

No matter how difficult it was

— So, all the humans from all the kingdoms and the Voidveil Empire, let’s put aside our grudges, let’s put aside our conflicts and join hands to defeat the demons, the enemies who have now returned and are even more formidable!

All of them raised their clenched fists high in unison.

The purpose of that action was to show their will.

— I don’t care where you come from or who you are!

— I only need to know that you are humans, and you are of the same species!

— And as humans, you should not conflict with each other!

— Your rage and murderous intent should not be directed towards others! You should direct them towards demons!

— You are not allowed to kill people!

— Demons are the only enemies you need to slaughter!

At that moment, the fire that had long since died out in everyone’s heart flared up again.

And this time, it was bigger than anything else.

If it existed in real life, the fire burning in everyone’s heart would be enough to burn down a giant forest.

— So, all of humanity, stop this pointless war, pick up your swords, and join forces to fight against an even greater threat!

— Together, we can do it!

It was the strongest weapon that had ever existed.

When they went alone, they would go fast.

But, if they went together, they could go further.

— Now, who will listen to me!?

They all shouted at the same time.

Causing the entire reality to shake with their strong will.

— Whoever listens to me, take up your sword! Prove yourself worthy of being a human!

And then, Alaric’s speech came to an end.

But, even after it ended, the fire in everyone’s heart did not die down.

On the contrary, it burned even more fiercely.

They looked at each other silently.

And then... a light flashed in everyone’s eyes.

"I will not run away anymore!"

The first person took the initiative, breaking the deathly silence.

The others followed suit and shouted resolutely:

Like a domino reaction.

At this moment, the fear in the hearts of all mankind no longer existed.

They no longer had any intention of boarding the train to escape.

If they were going to die anyway, why wouldn’t they try?

Everyone, regardless of whether they were old or young, were deeply affected by Alaric’s speech.

That was all that appeared in the minds of all mankind right now.
