The Player's POV Chapter 46

While Kael was wandering in the land of dreams, Mother Nature’s alarm clock had banished him from it.

He opened his eyes slightly, blinking a few times to get used to the sunlight.

Today was truly a beautiful day.

The morning sun shone directly into his room through the only window, lighting up everything without having to turn on the lights.

The weather was also very comfortable, no thunderstorms, not too cold, nor too hot.

Everything was perfect, down to the smallest detail.

’Damn. The birdsong is so annoying.’

He approached the window, locating the birds.

Then, Kael took a deep breath.

He suddenly covered his mouth, realizing how stupid his actions were.

Evelyn had used up too much energy last night, so sleep was precious to her now.

And how could he have shouted so loudly to indirectly tire her out?

The birds continued to chirp, as if mocking Kael.

’Just you wait, you damn birds! I won’t let you off!’

He gently closed the window, left his room, and headed towards the villainess’s room.

Standing in front of the wooden door leading inside, he mustered up his courage, then gently placed his hand on the doorknob, and turned it.

The door slowly opened.

Revealing a room with nothing special, and a beautiful girl lying on a princess bed.

Evelyn was still sleeping, soundly.

Kael let out a small smile.

Downstairs, violent knocks rang out continuously, so loud that the entire house shook slightly.

The villainess frowned slightly.

She was clearly affected by it.

’Damn it! Who the hell did that!?’

He gritted his teeth, quickly leaving her room and going downstairs.

Kael would definitely kill that person!

"Here, here, I’m coming! Stop knocking!"

The knocking had truly stopped.

Perhaps the person standing outside was quite well-mannered.

But before actually opening the door, Kael had to look through the peephole to confirm who it was.

After all, aside from a few special people, the location of this house was top secret.

"Oh? Now that’s interesting." He muttered.

Out there, Kael could see a few men wearing black military uniforms, about seven of them.

And at the back was none other than that bitch Sarah.

She must have reported everything to the guards.

With a fake gentle smile, he opened the door, welcoming these distinguished guests.

"Hello, who are you all?"

The man in charge didn’t answer right away, but glanced inside the house first.

Finding nothing suspicious, he turned his attention back to Kael.

"Hello, I am Oliver, the captain of the imperial special homicide investigation team."

He opened his mouth, looking surprised and scared.

"Oh my god! The imperial special homicide investigation team? If so, what are you all here for?"

Without giving the man a chance to reply, Sarah, who was at the end of the line, suddenly shouted:

"Don’t pretend, you piece of garbage! It was you and Evelyn who killed all my friends!"

Oliver paused, then turned around, signaling his subordinate with his eyes.

Understanding his intentions, the subordinate nodded, then immediately covered Sarah’s mouth.

"...As she said, we came here because of the mysterious disappearance of 34 students at Atlas Academy. And all 34 students were children of nobles. Making the case much more serious."

"Oh my! Really? But then what are you guys doing here, at this house?"

"Mmm........!!!!!!!!!!"

Sarah struggled, but it was all in vain against a well-trained special forces guard.

"Based on what Miss Sarah, the reporter, said, the culprit is the girl who lives in this house."

With that, the man stepped inside.

But he was stopped by Kael.

"...What do you want, young man?"

"You have no evidence and you just walked in and said she was the culprit?"

"So the empire’s special homicide investigation team is this bad, huh?"

Oliver wanted to say, but was once again cut off by him.

"So you guys just believe everything she says like a dog? Without even investigating, you assume she’s right just because of one word? So what if I say that Sarah is the culprit?"

"Bastard!" One of the man’s subordinates angrily stepped forward.

But was stopped as Oliver raised a hand.

"...I apologize, young man. It’s my fault for not explaining clearly."

"I don’t consider that girl named Evelyn as the culprit, but as a suspect in a serial murder case."

"Pause." He interrupted.

"What’s wrong, young man?"

"You keep saying it’s a murder, but where’s the evidence? What if it’s just a missing person case?"

Oliver looked at Kael silently.

He’d been doing this job for over 30 years, but this was the first time he’d ever met someone like him.

"Albert, let Miss Sarah go and let her explain."

The man who was covering Sarah’s mouth tight finally let her go.

And the moment she could speak again, she rattled off, as if she were firing a submachine gun:

"Sir, I saw her kill them with my own eyes! Furthermore, I suspect that the person you’re talking to is an accomplice because they’re always inseparable!"

Oliver closed his eyes, rubbing his temples.

"Okay, what this person said... Wait, what is your name?"

"Thanks. What Kael Draven said is very accurate. We came here immediately because the one who reported the case was you, the young lady of the Faelan family, and because we were worried that the descendants of the other families were really in trouble. But now we need evidence to prove what you said is true."

"What?!" Sarah was stunned.

"If you don’t have evidence, then your crime is slandering others, and causing trouble for us, wasting our precious time."

"But I’m not lying!" She shouted, her eyes filled with resentment.

"If that’s the case, then please give us evidence."

Sarah gritted her teeth, furrowed her brows, and racked her brain for a long time.

Then, a glint flashed in her eyes.

"I remember where the massacre happened!"

"...Then please lead the way."

Nevertheless, Sarah still hadn’t moved.

"What if when I lead everyone there, the real culprit, Evelyn Evernight, takes the opportunity to escape?"

A voice rang out from inside the house.

So familiar that Kael didn’t even need to look to know who it was.

"If you’re so worried about it, then I will go with you."

The villainess crossed her arms, and walked to Kael’s side.

"You are?" Oliver asked doubtfully.

"Evelyn Evernight, the person you consider the culprit."

She replied coldly, not sparing the man any glances.

"How is it Sarah? Can you lead the way now?"

Evelyn looked at Sarah, who was making an expression so complex that it was impossible to describe it in words, with ruby eyes mixed with disdain.

Finally, after 30 seconds, Sarah opened her mouth.

But the words that came out were not good at all.

"Fine, but like I said, no matter what you do, you won’t get away this time, Evelyn."
