The Player's POV Chapter 9

In the game society, there was a saying that everyone knew and agreed with it:

A battle could take place without a melee fighter, a tanker, or a ranged shooter.

However, it could not be without a supporter and a healer.

Once those two positions were gone, the battle would instantly end, and defeat was inevitable.

Just saying that was enough to understand how important those two roles were.

And just now, the young man whose name Kael didn’t even bother to remember - the supporter and healer of the entire party - was killed in the blink of an eye.

Clearly, he occupied an important, irreplaceable position, but he had a very quick and bland death.

Couldn’t even deal any damage to Shadow Slayer.

Question: If the party’s supporter and healer are dead, what should we do?

Answer: What a redundant question. If you don’t want to die, then of course you should run away."

The current situation was so dire that no one could feel any regret for the death of that young man.

Thanks to his death, everyone had realized an even more terrible truth.

Shadow Slayer was not only strong, but also had intelligence.

Otherwise, why would it kill the most important member of the party, when he was the one who was furthest away from it?

What could be worse than a Tower Creature that was both strong and could think like a human?

Nothing could be worse than that.

That was why in the next moment, everyone lost the will to fight.

Their weapons had become much heavier, and it felt like there was an invisible force preventing them from attacking.

Wasting no more time, everyone ran away, using all the speed and strength they could muster at this moment.

No one dared to scream, because they understood that it was useless, and even consumed a lot of stamina.

Just like that, the party quickly pierced through the darkness, returning to the outside world - which was now becoming darker.

The sun was setting, at a faster pace than usual.

No one dared to look back.

They were afraid that if they did, the image of that Tower Creature would appear, and haunt their minds once and for all.

An hour later, when the moon was directly overhead, and when all of them had successfully entered a cave, everyone was finally able to calm down and rest a bit.

The Shadow Slayer was no longer chasing after them.

However, only Kael and Hans knew that that thing would definitely return.

It was only a matter of time.

Exhausted, the five of them collapsed onto the stone floor, barely able to breathe.

The two girls even hugged each other and sobbed like children.

Not because they were mourning the death of the young man, but because they were worried that the next ones to fall would be them.

Meanwhile, Godfrey was sitting alone in the back of the cave, making a complicated expression, as if there were a hundred things he wanted to say but couldn’t.

Like everyone else, Kael just wanted to rest.

But the moment he was about to lie down and close his eyes, walking into the land of dreams, Hans Varun, who appeared out of nowhere, ruined everything.

"Hey Kael, can you come with me?"

"Huh? Where?" Kael replied in a troubled tone.

But even so, he still stood up and followed the protagonist.

Eventually, after leaving the cave, out of sight of the other three, Hans Varun was able to stop with peace of mind.

Then, from his pocket, he took out a strange bottle and handed it to Kael.

"What is this..." Kael was about to continue asking, but stopped when he saw it from a close distance.

Merlin’s sleeping pill.

In a soluble form, just add it to hot food or water.

Strong enough to put a bear to sleep!

Perfect for hunting and for those with severe insomnia!

After reading everything, he was completely dumbfounded.

"Yes, it’s a sleeping pill." Hans replied calmly, his expression not changing at all.

"Do you remember the day we met Godfrey? While you were talking to the rest of the members, I went to buy this."

"Tonight, we will officially take action. If we don’t use them as bait to lure that Tower Creature away, we won’t be able to survive."

"So, since you’re the one who cooks, before you give them the food, pour all of this sleeping medicine in."

"Don’t feel sorry for them, and don’t feel like a villain, Kael, this is the Tower after all. And if we don’t make the first move, they will be the ones to kill us."

No, that’s not what Kael was worried about.

"...Why didn’t you buy the medicine that could kill someone instantly, but instead bought sleeping pills?"

"To be honest, I thought about it, but then... I remembered you."

"...You’ve never killed a person before, have you, Kael?"

"Yes." He nodded carefully.

"Then you should get used to it, because in the Tower, it’s necessary. Sometimes, whether you like it or not, you’re forced to kill your own kind."

Those eyes didn’t belong to a liar, but to someone who had experienced it.

"...That means... you want me to kill them when they’re all asleep?" His heart was pounding.

Sure enough, what Kael was most worried about happened.

He would have to kill people, become a murderer.

Ever since he woke up and realized he was in another world, he knew that the day he would have to kill a human would come.

But unexpectedly, that day was almost a week after Kael transmigrated into the game Tower of Glory.

However, just like what Hans said, he had to get used to this.

...Kael clenched the medicine bottle in his hand, his eyes also becoming a bit more determined.

"Okay, I will do it."

Today, Kael, a streamer who was once a citizen of a world protected by law... would officially kill the first human.

Godfrey, who was still sitting at the back of the cave, suddenly saw a bowl of steaming hot soup right in front of him.

’Huh? How long has it been here?’

Only then did he come back to his senses.

To be honest, because he hadn’t eaten for almost a day, his stomach felt like it was torturing itself.

And when he saw the other four people eating greedily and deliciously, his condition became even worse.

For some reason, although this was just a normal bowl of soup sold in most eateries, right now, to him, it was no different from a delicacy.

"Thanks for the meal."

Not wasting any more time, Godfrey picked up the bowl of soup, and poured it all down his stomach at an astonishing speed.

After finishing the meal in less than 10 seconds, he licked his lips, seeming quite satisfied with the taste.

’This is not bad, I want more.’

With that thought, he stood up, but then stopped because of what entered his vision.

The two girls in Godfrey’s party had collapsed on the ground, looking no different from two corpses.

And the next moment, something strange happened to his body.

The world around him gradually became blurry.

His thoughts began to disappear.

His body felt heavy, as if being pressed down by a mountain.

Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he fell asleep.

A sleep that would never end.
