As everyone hurriedly prepared under Uncle Qu's direction, the number of Qu Family members left in this shelter had dwindled to just over fifty.
Just as these fifty-odd people had slain the last Mutant Beast on the ground, the survivor closest to the window suddenly felt an ominous premonition.
His blood-soaked self turned his head to look at the tightly sealed window, from outside of which erupted a sound like thunder.
Before the survivor could react, the window was smashed open.
Countless Zombies piled up outside the window and poured in like a burst flood.
People screamed in terror—they had just killed a dozen or so Mutant Beasts and already lost half their numbers.
Before this, none of them had remembered that their current position was surrounded by a Zombie Tide.
As a result, Zombies continuously squeezed in through the window.
The Qu Family's bodyguards hastily began to respond to the Zombies.
So many Zombies caused many of the Qu Family's bodyguards to get bitten.
A bloodied bodyguard ran to Uncle Qu, shouting loudly,
"What should we do now? What can we do?"
What could Uncle Qu do?
He had a deathly pallor as he looked at the panicked bodyguard and, at last, resolving himself, said,
"You all go, each escape in your own way."
"Should any of you live, don't worry about me. If we are all unlucky and die, then we can keep each other company on Yellow Spring Road."
With these words, he had already prepared himself for certain death.
The bodyguard standing before him stared with tear-filled eyes.
He turned back to glance at the Zombies inside the shelter, then back at Uncle Qu, crying as he said,
"I'm sorry, since the apocalypse, I've been in your debt. Take care of yourself."
With that, the bodyguard turned and, calling a few people with him, began fighting their way toward the door.
Uncle Qu stood behind these few people, watching as they bravely fought their way out; he did not move.
Because he knew he could no longer escape.
With his advanced age, if he tried to escape with these people, he might end up being a burden to them.
Uncle Qu suddenly laughed at himself mockingly, thinking it bizarre that he had become a good person at the moment of his death.
He had never been a good person. What evil had not been committed by someone who climbed to his position?
Even when witnessing his bodyguards brutally tormenting Su Ruyan, Uncle Qu felt indifferent.

When Uncle Qu passed by the room of Su Ruyan, he saw she was still tied up on the bed.
Perhaps realizing that zombies filled the room outside, Su Ruyan stared at Uncle Qu as he passed,
"Let me go, hurry up and release me! The Zombies will be here any second."
"Hurry up and let me go!"
Uncle Qu laughed derisively at her,
"Let you go, and you'll go where? What effort can you make to change the situation as it is?"
After speaking, Uncle Qu leisurely stepped into Su Ruyan's room.
He sat down beside her bed, still lamenting,
"I really didn't expect that, in the end, I would die together with you."
The disdain in his voice made Su Ruyan feel that Uncle Qu was truly despicable.
It could be said that Uncle Qu's attitude towards her was filled with mockery and contempt.
Why did he look at her as if she were a burden? What was Uncle Qu anyway?

"Even if you wanted to move freely through the Zombie Tide, you couldn't."
In the midst of Su Ruyan's unabashed scorn, Uncle Qu threw back his head and laughed heartily.
He felt as if Su Ruyan had just told a joke.
