On the bed, Gu Mei said coyly, "Pull down the bed curtain."
Suo Zhu chuckled, "No need to pull it down, there aren’t any mosquitoes this season, and it makes everything look clearer."
Gu Mei spat teasingly, feeling shy, and didn’t speak further.
Before long, Gu Mei’s cry of pain echoed from the room.
A moment later, Gu Mei’s voice sounded again, filled with surprise and disappointment, "Is... is that it?"
The oblivious Suo Zhu, not noticing Gu Mei’s odd tone, replied simply, "Yeah, it’s done, let’s sleep."
Outside, Jiang Erlang felt like his heart was being clawed at, wishing he could pull Suo Zhu out of bed and take over himself.
Inside, there was a rustle of movements, then the blanket was pulled up.
Jiang Erlang stared longingly at the bright red blanket for a while before reluctantly climbing over the wall to go home.
Early the next day, before dawn broke, Gu Mei was woken with a pat.
The dragon and phoenix candles in the room were still burning; Gu Mei opened her eyes to see Sun standing by the bed, nearly scared out of her wits.
Sun whispered, "It’s time to get up and make breakfast for the family."
Gu Mei pulled the blanket up, "I’ll... I’ll be right there."
Seeing her son’s body largely exposed, Sun quickly pulled the blanket over him, gently saying, "Don’t wake him." Then she left.
Gu Mei lay biting her lip for a while before getting up to dress.
In her past life, she never experienced anything like this; when she got married for good luck on that day, Da Lang of Jiang Family died, and the house was in chaos the next day, and no one asked her to get up to make breakfast.
Later, when she married again, there was no mother-in-law at that house, so nothing like this happened.
After breakfast was prepared, Suo Zhu got up yawning.

Sun could tell that her youngest son was protecting his wife, but she didn’t press Gu Mei anymore, just said, "Drink more hot water, and if you still feel bad later, go find Doctor Gu next door and get some medicine."
Gu Mei couldn’t help but ask, "Who? Who’s Doctor Gu?"
Suo Zhu chuckled, "She’s your sister."
Gu Mei’s eyes nearly popped out, "My sister? How could she know medicine!"
Sun gave her a sidelong glance, "You, being the older sister, didn’t even know?"
"I didn’t believe it at first either, but now I have to."
"That scabby-headed Ah Tie, even your father couldn’t cure him, but your sister did."
"And it’s not just him, she’s cured quite a few."
"Just recently, I heard that Liu Family’s grandson almost choked to death, and she cured him too."
