"Are you going out drinking again today?"
Doro stiffly shifted his gaze over here and simply said, "I don’t know."
"If you plan to drink, please restrain yourself today. I don’t want to drag you back, reeking of alcohol, and then have to clean your body. I detest people who are so sloppy."
Doro pressed his thin lips together, wondering when such a term could be used to describe himself.
"Even though you’re down and out now, with the power you still possess, you can easily hunt one or two magical beasts to sustain yourself, can’t you? Why deceive others for food and drink? If you can’t go through proper channels, isn’t there always the black market?"
"Are you thinking about this for me?"
"Yes." Mohe adjusted her maid outfit, her work clothes, using magic to create steam to make her skirt smoother, "It’s my pity for you."
It’s the pity of the strong for the weak. Although this man possesses great power now, he is essentially just a wastrel. On a spiritual level, he is nothing more than a weakling; the Demon King has no interest in oppressing the weak, thus Mohe feels pity.
"That’s the kind of thing people who want to live well do."
"Then why don’t you just die?"
This was quite a sharp remark. Doro thought if he said he was going to die, the Demon King would clap her hands in approval, considering he once killed her.
"This is indeed my weakness and cowardice."
Mohe sighed, "That’s why I say humans are fundamentally flawed creatures. How about it? I’ll help transform you into a member of the Demon Race, give you a heart as strong as mine, and in return, you have to work for me."
Doro’s murky eyes abruptly fell on Mohe’s face, a fleeting light passing through his gaze, "Forget it. I’ve been human for so many years, and I’m used to being human."
Mohe didn’t comment further. Speaking so much to the Hero was unexpected. It must be noted, this is the person who killed her. If she had enough power, she would’ve found a way to kill him long ago.
Being able to communicate so peacefully was surprising even to Mohe.
"I took you in last night, that’s a fact. You should give me some compensation, don’t you think?"
Doro lay back down on the bed, "Have you ever seen a scumbag who honestly repays kindness? People like us are shameless punks, thugs; just depending on your kindness already shows we’re doing you justice."
"Admit it, Hero, you can’t be a real thug. True thugs would never call themselves thugs; they would only claim to be innocent victims."
Mohe walked to Doro’s side and directly kicked him, without much force; after all, the Hero’s body is quite hard, and Mohe didn’t want to hurt her foot, "Get up. I still need to tidy the bed."
Doro lingered on the bed for a while before he eventually got up. Standing in the room, he seemed not entirely sober. Even standing, he was swaying slightly.
Mohe tidied the bed a bit and then showed a satisfied smile. Seeing the Hero inside the room, she couldn’t help but sigh, "To be honest, Doro, would you consider living better?"
Doro continued swaying, casting a sideways glance over, and asked, "Do you really hope for me to live better?"
Mohe didn’t hide her motives, "In your current state, you might impulsively do something that interferes with my actions. Now, you seem to not care about anything. Although hurt by those around you, if you suddenly sober up one day, reminisce about the past, and then disrupt my plans, that would be terrible. People like you are societal troublemakers. Besides, you have power."
"So what are you implying?"
"If you have things to cherish, people to protect, you will have the value for alliances and threats. Doro, your current state is unsettling for me. I preferred you during your Hero times."
Doro laughed, "I am indeed no longer like my Hero self."
"You know what I mean."
Doro shook his head, "You need not worry about my affairs. I said I would not block you, and I won’t. Correspondingly, you cannot reveal my whereabouts."
"Reveal your whereabouts? And then attract a bunch of bothersome people? That’s actually not a bad idea. I need some people to divert attention. Do you think I’ll do that?"
Doro’s gaze finally became a little threatening, "You can try."
"It seems like you quite resent the past. Is meeting those people something you really want to avoid?"
Doro remained silent.
Mohe also avoided discussing related matters further. After tidying up the house briefly, Mohe said, "Alright, Hero, if you have nothing else, why not accompany me out for a while?"
She dared not simply leave Doro unattended; this also served as another form of surveillance.
