Chapter 232: She is after My Man_1
In the darkness of the night, she took out her phone to call Han Chengbei. Her voice trembled with sobs, “The person who took my photo is Xia Yanyan. I have no idea how many media outlets she has sent these pictures to. Can you help me deal with all of them?”
Upon hearing her voice, Han Chengbei sensed something was wrong. “You’re crying? Don’t cry, don’t cry. Brother will find a way to solve this. Where are you now? I’ll come find you.”
“Don’t call yourself ‘brother’, the last thing I want to hear right now is ‘brother’. Otherwise, we’re through!”
Not knowing what had happened to her, Han Chengbei quickly changed his tone as if trying to appease a highly esteemed ancestor, “Alright, my dear, where are you?”
Ye Xingguang wiped away her tears and said, “I’m at the entrance of the Xia’s family mansion.”
“The Xia’s family’s mansion? Xia Yanyan’s house?”
From the other end of the phone, came the rustling sound of movement and Han Chengbei’s comforting voice, “How did you upset Xia Yanyan? Okay, wait there for me. My house isn’t too far from the Xia’s. I’ll come find you now. Don’t cry. Hearing you cry is breaking my heart.”
Ye Xingguang rubbed her nose forcefully, “Who’s crying? It’s just the wind blowing into my eyes.”
And indeed, a cold wind swept by, causing her to feel as if she was plunging into an icy pit.
“Nevermind, I won’t keep you. Just hurry up, I don’t want to stand here for too long.”
With that, she ended the call.
She wanted to check with the President’s office to see if her cousin’s wife had helped her interrogate Suda, but when she went to dial the number, she realized she didn’t have it. So all she could do was wait for Han Chengbei in the darkness of the night.
Han Chengbei arrived quickly. Instead of driving, he showed up on a motorbike, looking a bit overdressed for the occasion.
He wore slippers on his feet, a cartoon bear pajama on his body, his hair was a mess, completely lacking any semblance of a public figure. However, his handsome face still looked charmingly nonchalant under the moonlight.
Even so, Ye Xingguang was in no mood to address Han Chengbei’s shabbiness, she only mumbled, “What in the world are you wearing?”
Han Chengbei replied, “I just crawled out of bed, my dear.Quickly, hop on.”
Ye Xingguang was still wearing the evening gown she borrowed from Ye Tingnan, definitely not the best outfit for riding a motorcycle. She opted to sit sideways, with both of her legs together on one side. Once she was seated securely, she said, “Alright.”
Han Chengbei threw over his shoulder, “Hold on tight.”
And with that, the motorbike roared to life under their feet, leaving the onlooking drivers in their dust.
The night breeze brushed softly against them, causing Ye Xingguang to hold down her dress. She asked, “Where are we going?”
Han Chengbei replied with his own question, “You didn’t score any favors at the Xia’s?”
Ye Xingguang didn’t speak.
Han Chengbei asked again, “You’re certain it was Xia Yanyan who did this?”
“Yeah, I checked the surveillance at the President’s mansion, but the portion with me in it was deleted. The surveillance room staff had contact with Xia Yanyan. Apart from her, I can’t think of anyone else.”
This surprised Han Chengbei, “Xia Yanyan is usually too proud to pay attention to regular people. What skills do you have to have become her target? Is it because I told you to get back at Xia Ye Zhao and you didn’t?”
Ye Xingguang gritted her teeth, “She has her eyes on my man.”
Han Chengbei yelled out, nearly losing control of the bike, “What?”
“You need to focus on driving.”
Han Chengbei steadied himself and turned his head sideways, “Xia Yanyan is interested in your man. The ex-boyfriend from the photo?”
“No, it’s my official partner.”
“Who is your official partner who managed to catch Xia Yanyan’s interest?” Han Chengbei became even more curious.
