Bo Jingyu patted her on the shoulder, “Don’t overthink it. How about I help you get some time off, go rest for half a day? You should recalibrate. In your current state, you’re no fit to treat patients.”
“I adhere to professional ethics and won’t allow my personal affairs to affect my work,” Chang Danran resolved.
Bo Jingyu chuckled. Could he really trust her?
Checking the time, Bo Jingyu said, “Alright then, I have a patient on my hands. His situation is gradually stabilizing. You’ll supervise his care for me hereafter. Update me promptly should anything arise.”
Bo Jingyu was a special appointment consultant at the city hospital. He didn’t have regular office hours and only dropped by when required. Currently, he planned to return to his research institute to continue his artificial kidney project.
Chang Danran nodded, “Your long-time patient, Mr. Song? What’s going on with his condition? You mentioned earlier that he was not going to make it, but now it seems there is a sudden turnaround and he’s recovering? Did you misdiagnose him? If the patient files a complaint, it could damage your reputation.”
Bo Jingyu was baffled, “I’m not sure either. As long as the patient has walked back from death’s doorstep, even a complaint would be worth it. Get yourself together, and come with me to the patient’s room.”
Chang Danran gave an affirmative sound. It took her some time to realign herself back to work mode, then she followed Bo Jingyu into Song Chuanqi’s room.
Much to her surprise, immediately upon entering the room, she saw Xia Ye Zhao sitting beside the patient’s bed.

“It was nothing, really. Just doing my job. That’s all for now. Danran, take good care of him, and make sure you concentrate when you are working. Caring for the patient is your priority.” Bo Jingyu patted Chang Danran on the shoulder, his seemingly casual words pregnant with unspoken meaning.
After Bo Jingyu had left, Chang Danran was in a daze. She was at a loss as to how she had managed to complete the transfer. Her head was buzzing. Finally, she managed to say, “Mr. Song, please rest. If there are any issues, have your family contact me directly at the office.”
Then, she turned around and quickly walked out of the room.
Xia Ye Zhao’s feelings weren’t much better. He sat silently by the bedside. Only after Chang Danran left the room did he rise and follow her out.
Ye Xingguang saw her brother’s restless state and pursed her lips. But when her brother finally left the room, she heaved out a sigh of relief. After all, she hadn’t the faintest idea how to continue to cope with the tense atmosphere in the room.
Bai Lanwu hugged her shoulder, “Xingguang, what are you thinking about?”
Bai Lanwu sighed and tenderly stroked her head, “Regardless, your father and I will respect your decision.”
