The taxi stopped at the apartment building of Yu Jia Garden, Xia Ye Zhao got out first, but Chang Danran stayed in the car for a long time.
Xia Ye Zhao did not urge her, he waited outside the car holding their son until the driver impatiently said: “Miss, are you getting out? Having a fight with your husband? Take it from me, fights end at the foot of the bed, hurry home.”

She still remembered how she had made the home specially warm and beautiful the day before they broke up.
Five years had passed, and she thought she would never step foot in this house for the rest of her life, even though the property certificate bore her name.
It seemed that Xia Ye Zhao was also thinking about the past, neither of them spoke, they simply walked into the apartment building and waited for the elevator.
The wait for the elevator was a bit long. Their son looked around curiously while protectively standing by his mother: “Jerk, where is this?”

Xia Ye Zhao was angered by his son’s words, he fixed a tense gaze on Chang Danran’s white neck: “You and your mom were always mine, there’s no need for trafficking. But you, you call others dad, but me, jerk. This goes against the norms of father and son.”
The kid snorted: “Then why did you only show up now?”
Xia Ye Zhao was stunned by his son’s question, his expression darkened considerably.
Just then, the elevator door opened. Without a word, he grabbed Chang Danran’s hand and walked in.
“Press for the floor.” He didn’t have a free hand.
Chang Danran pressed the number ’21,’ Xia Ye Zhao’s face softened a bit: “So you remember which floor it is, I thought you had forgotten everything about me.”
Chang Danran didn’t say anything, staying so close to him, made her heartbeat uncontrollably. It reminded her of his appearance at T city a week ago, questioning her about their son, his deep eyes full of bloodshot veins.
With a ding, the elevator door opened.
She slowly followed him out of the elevator, standing in front of the apartment door, Xia Ye Zhao said, “Open the door.”
It was a door with a passcode, Chang Danran asked, “What’s the code?”
Chang Danran’s fingers trembled as she entered the code the same as the date they first met. The door immediately opened.
Xia Ye Zhao pushed the door open. There were only two pairs of slippers on the shoe rack, one men’s and one women’s. The styles were somewhat outdated, but Chang Danran’s heart was far from placid, these slippers were bought from the supermarket five years ago, they cost $19.9 a pair.
Even the layout in the living room was the same as it was five years ago when they broke up. All her cute little decorations were still there after five years, but the floor and tables weren’t dusty at all, and there wasn’t any musty odor. It was clear someone frequently cleaned the place. Could he have been coming here often?
There were no slippers for their son, so Xia Ye Zhao simply let him walk around the living room wearing his shoes. The boy lifted his head and saw the wedding photo of his mother and father hanging on the living room wall. He immediately pointed at it and frowned, “Mommy, you and the big jerk!”
