Tang Zhou was crouching, trying to sneak away under the office desk.
But just as he reached the end of the desk, his head bumped into a pair of meticulously ironed trousers. He looked up to find Leng Chenmo smiling down at him.
Did he really find me?
Even with a cap, glasses, and a mask on, did this assistant have eyes like a hawk?
“Isn’t it uncomfortable to keep crouching?” Leng Chenmo asked, a playful gaze on Tang Zhou.
“I’m tying my shoelaces!”
Tang Zhou pretentiously untied and retied his canvas shoelaces, the laces that were never loose. He then stood up suddenly, his hands tucked in his hoodie pockets: “What brings you here?”
“I want a child, so I came for consultation. What about you? The same?” Leng Chenmo teased him with a smirk.
“Who would be the same as you, I am…” Tang Zhou’s voice halted as he couldn’t think of a good excuse.
Leng Chenmo leaned in closely and whispered into his ear: “Hm?”
His single-word, rhetorical question was mild yet edgy, charmingly enticing to the ears.
After that, he chuckled lightly, whispering into Tang Zhou’s ear: “You want to have a child with me?”
Tang Zhou’s heart jumped abruptly, his face reddened involuntarily. Feeling the heat creeping up onto his cheeks, he wished he could bolt.
The only silver lining was that he was wearing a mask and sunglasses, or else his face would have certainly shown his embarrassment.
Tang Zhou couldn’t stand this proximity and coughed lightly as he took a step back. Right when he tried to counter Leng’s statements, Leng had already grabbed his wrist and led him towards the consultation window.
“Damn it, what are you doing?”
“Since we have the same goal, let’s go ask together. These things should be professionally discussed together.”
“Who wants to have a kid with you? Stop flattering yourself, okay? I can only tolerate you for a year, and after that year, when my taxes are done, you can get lost. Go find another woman to have a baby!”
Leng Chenmo simply responded: “I only want to have a child with you.”
Not knowing how to respond, Tang Zhou gave a dry laugh, and then Leng Chenmo led him back to the consultation window.
The consultation window had chairs for the visitors. The moment Leng Chenmo seated himself, an unexplained sense of oppression made the staff member, Alexander, uneasy.
While inquiring about having a baby, Leng Chenmo was much calmer than Tang Zhou. Especially when the matter of collecting eggs from the female was discussed, Leng asked very detailed questions.
“Can we appoint our own doctor?”
“Currently, there is no such exception. Our parenting center has doctors specifically for this.”
The staff answered professionally albeit weakly since they had recognized Leng Chenmo and became nervous.
“This is still in the experimental phase. Your rules surely have room for flexibility. Why not take this opportunity to create a special channel? Can you inform your superiors about this possibility?”
Leng Chenmo’s voice was authoritative. It sounded less like a visitor asking a staff, but more like a boss instructing a subordinate!
The staff was unable to navigate past his imposing aura and ended up nodding involuntarily: “I will report this to my superior. In the meantime, you two can fill out this form.”
“No need, I’ve filled it out already.” Leng Chenmo took out a sheet of A4 paper from his pocket.
Tang Zhou standing beside him, glanced a few times, feeling uneasy: “Hey, I haven’t agreed yet.”
