207 Meeting
“Be careful!”
A familiar voice suddenly sounded. Yue Jiaojiao’s heart settled and she subconsciously looked up.
Zhao Zhan grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. The two of them barely dodged the horse’s hooves and took two steps back, almost falling to the ground. Zhao Zhan steadied himself first and looked her up and down. “Jiaojiao, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”
Only when they met did Yue Jiaojiao realize that her longing for him was deeper than she had originally thought.
Zhao Zhan’s face was still wrapped in a face cloth, revealing only his bloodshot eyes. His hair was a mess, and there was a gray mark on his forehead. He was exhausted and in a sorry state.
“Zhao Zhan, how many days have you not slept?”
His skin had become darker, but the dark circles under his eyes were still as obvious as before, worse even.
As she spoke, she took out her handkerchief and tiptoed to wipe his face, but Zhao Zhan grabbed her wrist. “Thank goodness you’re fine. Let me bring you back first.”
Zhao Zhan took off the bamboo hat hanging on the horse and put it on her head. Then, he carried her on the horse and returned to the Heart Hall. The two of them went back to their room from the back door. Once Zhao Zhan entered the room, he did not bother to bring hot water. He directly washed his face with cold water and walked to the table.
Yue Jiaojiao poured him a cup of tea.
“Jiaojiao, I followed those two people to Yang City to ask around.”

As Zhao Zhan spoke, he sized up Yue Jiaojiao’s expression. Seeing that her expression was calm and unchanged, he deliberated for a moment before continuing.

“The two people I followed have also left Yang City to report to the family after hearing this news.”
