“However, there are more than enough restaurants in Shangjing that do this so that we can sustain ourselves. Clothes, tea leaves, and meals, we can help you deliver them all.”
“What do you two want to eat? We’ll send it to you later.”
As he spoke, he handed over the menu of the restaurant, and Zhao Zhan basically ordered all the dishes on the menu.
“Originally, we would have to use a shoulder pole to carry that many dishes. It would actually cost you more copper coins. Since it’s your first time in Shangjing, I won’t charge you this once.”
“Many thanks. May I trouble you to send the things to this residence later?”
“Alright, make sure the sign is visible. If the thing is broken and the errand boy steals your things, you can take this to the administrative office and file a complaint. We won’t be able to escape.”
Zhao Zhan took the signs and weighed them in his hands before returning to the manor with Fang Tianliu.
Seeing that he was empty-handed, Yue Jiaojiao looked behind her curiously. “Did something happen?”
Zhao Zhan told Yue Jiaojiao about what had happened at the restaurant. “He said that it will be delivered in two hours.”
“Shangjing is so prosperous that there’s even door-to-door delivery?” Yue Jiaojiao laughed after she finished her sentence. “That’s good. Our lives can be more convenient now.”
She was lazy and liked to be lively but didn’t like to go out. This business in Shangjing would save her a lot of trouble.
“I just came back with some books from the street,” Zhao Zhan said, putting a thick stack of books on the table. “I’ll make a sign for you to hang at the door tomorrow. The weather has been hot recently. If you like something, hang the sign at the door, and someone will send whatever you want to your house.”
Yue Jiaojiao happily took the list and flipped through it page by page.
Seeing that she was happy, Zhao Zhan’s heart also relaxed. He sat at the side and looked at Zhao Nian, who was playing happily alone with his two meaty arms exposed. Then, he reached out a finger and poked Zhao Nian’s shoulder.
Zhao Nian’s mind was in a daze for a long time, and then he pouted and cried.
“Zhao Zhan, you made the child cry, so you have to coax him yourself.”
As expected, when there was no danger, the father was the greatest danger.
“He’s a boy, there’s no need to coax him. He’s not in pain.” Zhao Zhan was watching the show from the side. He casually gave him a toy and hooked him up to sit up.
The family of three played happily for a while before Madam Qin’s voice came from outside the door.
“There’s someone at the door carrying two large food boxes with a carrying pole. They say you ordered the dishes from the restaurant, Zhao Zhan.”
Zhao Zhan scooped his son into his arms and led Yue Jiaojiao out of the courtyard. “I made a reservation at the restaurant to bring the meals over. Madam Qin, please set the food.”
Yue Jiaojiao tugged at the hem of his clothes, and Zhao Zhan grabbed his lover’s hand in his palm. “I know. When I went out just now, I went to the bar with Fang Tianliu to reserve a table later at night.”
This guy always prepared everything in silence.
They were too tired from the journey, and they finally felt peace during dinner. However, the physical fatigue was hard to hide. After dinner, they went back to their rooms to wash up and rest.
“Madam Qin, I’ll have to leave Zhao Nian in your care today.”
Yue Jiaojiao pushed Zhao Nian into Madam Qin’s arms and turned around to go back to her room to change.
“Mama!”
Zhao Nian struggled to call out to her, but Zhao Zhan glared back at him. Zhao Nian quickly put his arms around Madam Qin’s neck and leaned on her shoulder, only revealing one eye to secretly look at his father.
While the father and son were confronting each other, Yue Jiaojiao had already changed her clothes and walked out.
She changed into a light yellow dress, which brightened up the dark sky.
She didn’t comb her hair into a cumbersome bun. She only used a gauze of the same color to tie her long waterfall-like hair at the top of her head, revealing some fine hair at the corner of her forehead.
Zhao Zhan’s eyes were a little dazed when he saw her.
Her face still looked young and tender. Zhao Zhan stood opposite her and looked at her. For some reason, he felt that he had aged a little. It was as if time stopped for his lover but not for him.
“Mama!”
Zhao Nian clapped his hands excitedly, his big round eyes were sparkling.
Zhao Zhan moved to the side and blocked Zhao Nian and Yue Jiaojiao’s path without any mercy. He then raised his hand to cover Zhao Nian’s eyes. “Madam Qin, bring Zhao Nian back to her room. He should be taking his nap now.”
Madam Qin chuckled and nodded. “Of course, I’ll bring him back to his room.”
The courtyard fell silent.
Yue Jiaojiao raised her head to look at the sky. “Zhao Zhan, look. There aren’t as many stars here as there are in Willow village. Even the moon doesn’t seem to be as big as Willow Village.”
Without waiting for Zhao Zhan to reply, Yue Jiaojiao had already grabbed his hand and pulled him outside. “Let’s go to the tavern.”
