The Rules of Blood Chapter 101

At Blanc’s words, Miyanna placed the silver coins on the counter with a smug look on her face, which prompted the young lady to apologize to her, over and over again.

Once the embarrassing interaction was done with and Miyanna’s ego boosted, the young woman gave her a key and explained how to get to their room, as well as the menu of foods they served and the services they provided.

With a nod from Miyanna, the five began climbing over four pairs of stairs until they were face to face with a heavy wooden door.

She slid the key into the lock, twisted it left twice as instructed, and the door opened onto a spacious chamber.

At its center stood a large table with three wooden benches gathered around it.

The beige walls and wooden smell, though plain, felt pleasantly homely after the rough stones of the cave.

To the left of the table lay two side rooms, both equipped with a broad bed.

On the right wall near the entrance, another door led into a smaller chamber with a floor of flat stone and a wide barrel, commonly reused as a bathing tub for commoners.

Behind it, a second door inside revealed a simple wooden toilet.

“There is everything we need,” Blanc replied, satisfied with the amenities.

“More than that,” Celine agreed.

“Toilet, toilet,” Lune began singing as she ran around the room, pleased beyond belief.

“Kael, do you like it?” Blanc asked.

“Mhm,” Kael nodded, before asking, “Can we pick our room?”

“The beds are as large as the other, so feel free,” Blanc nodded.

When Kael took Lune’s hand to go and decide on this important matter, Blanc turned towards Celine and Miyanna.

“Are you two leaving soon, then?” he asked.

“Oh yeah, I need to go change,” said Celine, grabbing her bag and going towards the bath, “We leave after.”

“I am getting nervous,” Miyanna muttered.

“Why so?” Blanc asked, walking towards her.

“This feels like a dream sometimes,” she began, “Every morning when I wake up, I’m afraid that it really is just a dream, that I went mad a long time ago and now I’m seeing things.”

“This is no dream, my dear,” Blanc smiled, putting his hand on her cheek.

She tilted her head gently in his palm as she spoke again, “So you’re saying I’m mad?” ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ novel✶fire.net

“I’m saying that it’s real. You, me, Celine, this room, all of it is real. No magic, no illusions, no madness, no dreams,” Blanc replied.

“Are you not afraid?” Miyanna asked.

Blanc tilted his head, “Of what exactly?”

“That you will regret marrying me,” Miyanna muttered.

At that, Blanc went in and kissed her, a long, caring kiss.

“Is that enough of an answer?” he asked.

“No,” she shook her head, “Not even close.”

“Then wait until the evening. I will explain my lack of regrets when it comes to you,” Blanc smiled, just as Celine left the bath, now dressed in a more common attire with her hair caught in a ponytail.

“Well, aren’t you two just the sweetest?” Celine grinned as she saw them.

“Just as cute as you, my love. Are you ready?” Blanc asked.

She nodded at his question, “What do you two think?” she asked, doing a spin.

“Wonderful,” said Blanc.

“It fits you nicely,” replied Miyanna at the same time Blanc did.

“We aren’t in bed, not both of you at once,” Celine giggled, but changing the subject the next moment, “Well then, love, do you need anything from the city?”

“Capes for all of us, tents, and clothes for Miyanna. She doesn’t really have anything for bad weather, and if there is anything else you want or consider necessary, you two can buy it. Ah, and a goblet too, if you can find one for the betrothal ceremony,” instructed Blanc as he gave the coin purse to the two.

“Wait, wait, wait, I don’t need clothes,” Miyanna exclaimed.

“Oh, if rain or some cold returns? What then? It’s still the middle of spring. Nature isn’t kind sometimes. Buy whatever you need,” Blanc said.

“No point arguing, Miyanna,” Celine giggled, grabbing the purse and kissing Blanc, “You heard the man.”

Miyanna sighed, but went and kissed Blanc just the same before they both turned.

“Take care,” said Blanc to the two.

“You too,” smiled Celine, “We will leave the key here, you won’t leave anywhere, right?”

“Nothing planned,” Blanc shook his head.

As Celine nodded, staring at him for just a moment longer, Miyanna opened the door before speaking, “We’re going them.”

And with that, they were out the door.

“Kael,” spoke Blanc out loud, a minute after the two left.

“Did they leave?” Kael asked.

“Yes, I will wait just five more minutes, then I’ll be going too,” Blanc replied.

“But I heard you just gave them the coin purse,” Kael added.

“Little Kael,” Blanc grinned, taking from his pocket three gold coins, “I made sure to take my own first.”

“What a frightening husband you will become, brother,” sighed Lune, coming out of one of the rooms. “Where are you going, and why didn’t you say anything to them?”

“Because they must not know, Little Flower,” Blanc replied.

“Ah, yes, Celine, Miyanna, I will be tagging along with you to grab some gifts for my new wives,” Blanc said sarcastically.

“Oh, gifts!” Lune exclaimed, before her face turned colder, “Buy me something too, or I’m telling.”

“Lune?” Blanc replied, shocked.

“Did I stutter?” Lune asked.

Blanc began laughing, realizing from whom she had learned this way of asserting herself, “When did Celine teach you all of this?”

“Here and there,” Lune shrugged.

“So you are on her side, huh?” sighed Blanc, “Fine, I give, I will buy you something too. Kael, do you need anything?”

“Books, as many as you can grab,” replied Kael after thinking for a moment.

“What kind, Little Kael? Romance?” Blanc grinned.

“N-no,” Kael stuttered, “Whatever books you can get are fine, t-though, I would not mind something… heading towards romance.”

“I see, I see,” Blanc replied, trying his best not to laugh at his younger brother as he saw Lune shaking her head, tired of her twin and his tastes in literature, “I will do what I can.”

“Take care, brother,” waved the twins in unison.

“I will lock the door, be good kids, and wait for me,” Blanc said, looking at them, his eyes serious.

When the two nodded, he closed the door behind him, and with a loud clang, locked the door.
