The Rules of Blood Chapter 128

“Unwise to not make yourself known and just jump in front of us , my love,” Celine said coldly.

“I almost stabbed you,” Miyanna added, clearly annoyed.

“True,” Blanc acknowledged, “But was it not cool, Kael, Lune?”

“We were getting out of the pool,” Kael sighed.

“Yep, you almost fell on us, Brother,” Lune completed, “But I think it was cool.”

“Little Flower…” Blanc’s eyes went wide before running towards his sister and lifting her off her feet.

“My clothes are wet, Brother,” Lune tried shaking herself off him.

“No matter, no matter,” Blanc chuckled as he spun her, “Tell this brother of yours how cool he is.”

“Ve-very cool,” Lune stuttered as she was getting dizzy, “Now put me down.”

“As my Lady commands,” Blanc said as he stopped spinning and crouched down, placing Lune back on her feet.

“Kael,” Lune said, waving to him, “Help me move, I can’t see straight.”

Lune’s words, as she wobbled on her feet, made Blanc, Celine, and Miyanna start laughing out loud as they watched Kael, wet and sighing, place his twin sister’s hand over his shoulder and begin walking as if they were leaving a tavern.

“Get yourself dry, and relax. I will call you when dinner is ready,” Blanc instructed the two.

To which they could only wave with their free hands, indicating that they understood as they went back to the campsite.

A few moments after Kael and Lune departed, Blanc spoke to his wives in a more serious tone than his playfulness from before.

“I saw a turtle,” he said.

“Did you?” Celine asked unfazed, “Have you harvested it?”

Blanc shook his head, “I did not, it was only a baby. Which means-”

“Which means that its parents are there too, but remain unseen,” Celine interrupted, completing Blanc’s sentence.

To which Blanc nodded, “Exactly.”

“Did you follow it?” Miyanna asked.

“Nope,” Blanc shook his head, “But we now know that there are at least two. Which means, as we hunt for other beasts, we can look for the turtles as we go.”

“But not where they usually live and rest,” Celine added.

“Should I go do that then? I might be able to catch up with it,” Blanc wondered.

But both his wives shook their heads.

“No need, the information that there are some that we can harvest is plenty of a reward,” Celine said.

“It’s late, no time for that now,” Miyanna agreed with Celine’s words.

“I can see that you two are angry with me,” Blanc said, looking at the two and the cold way they have been speaking. “Have I done something?”

Miyanna wanted to reply to his question, but Celine stopped her, placing a hand on her shoulder and speaking in her stead.

“There will be time for such questions after dinner. Come now, Kael and Lune must be hungry,” she said while turning on her heels and walking away, with Miyanna following closely behind.

“Okay…” Blanc muttered, somewhat saddened by the way they acted, as he watched his wives walk away towards the campsite.

“Why are we pretending to be mad?” Miyanna asked Celine in a whisper as they walked back towards the campfire, “He seems sad.”

“Weren’t you angry, sister?” Celine replied.

“You know what I meant,” Miyanna said.

A grin appeared on Celine’s face. “Then you have to trust me on this.”

“What are you scheming?” Miyanna asked.

“You will see,” Celine giggled as they arrived at the campsite, “And you won’t regret it.”

A minute later, Blanc arrived at the campsite too, pushing his overthinking mind to the side, as he began unpacking.

Celine and Miyanna stood inside the tent the whole time as Blanc prepared a fire with great difficulty since most of the wood he collected had to be first dried out.

But after half an hour, he managed to do it.

But he was slowly losing patience, yet he remained silent.

He prepared juice for all, out of the berries he collected, and made oats sweetened with coconut water, bananas, and the pulp of the coconuts.

A delicious meal. One he prepared alone.

He did not mind, after all; he loved cooking for them.

But this time, it felt lonely, which fed his overthinking mind even more.

He tried to think of a reason as to why Celine and Miyanna were angry with him, yet no answer came.

“Dinner is ready,” Blanc said out loud so that the four could hear him.

At his words, Kael, Lune, Celine, and Miyanna came out of the two tents, bowls in hand.

After serving the food and offering them some juice in wooden cups, with Blanc staring blankly at them, they slowly began eating.

However, he was not. His appetite was long gone.

So he started speaking, “Tomorrow we attempt to pull predators towards the gorillas’ bodies. Which means most likely we will have to fight. Eat your fill and rest properly.”

“Are you not eating?” Miyanna asked.

Blanc rose to his feet and headed towards their tent as he replied, “I’m not hungry, I ate in the forest.”

And with that, he was gone.

“Why is Brother angry? Is it my fault?” Lune wondered.

“Do not worry, Lune,” said Celine, “It’s our fault.”

“What do you mean?” asked Kael, “Have you three argued after we left?”

“Oh, Vita no,” Celine giggled, “He thinks we are angry at him, so we decided to play a little game with him for a while longer.”

“Is that wise?” Kael wondered, “Blanc is stressed about many things.”

“That’s exactly why, Kael,” Celine replied.

“I still don’t get it,” Miyanna sighed.

“Do not worry about Blanc,” Celine said to the twins, “You will see in the morning that he will be smiling from ear to ear.” The source of thɪs content is NoveI(F)ire.net

“That’s good to hear,” Lune smiled, “I trust you, sisters.”

“As long as he is happy,” Kael added.

“Not to worry,” Celine giggled, “He will be.”

Ten minutes later, after the twins ate and big their goodnight to Celine and Miyanna, they went inside their own tent to try and get some sleep.

After placing a few wet logs on the fire to keep it going, Celine turned to Miyanna.

“Well then, sister, shall we take our husband for a bath?” she asked.

“I don’t think he will come now that he is angry with us,” Miyanna replied.

“Oh, I doubt that, shall I prove it to you?” Celine proposed, “How about a bet?”

“What bet and what are we betting on?” Miyanna asked.
