When they returned home and changed their shoes at the entrance, Han Xi suddenly felt a dull pain in her lower abdomen. It was only upon returning to the bedroom that she realized her period had arrived, and she always suffered from menstrual cramps whenever it did.
This was the first time Han Xi’s period had come since she moved here, and there were no sanitary pads at home. In her current state, she couldn’t go out to buy them herself, so she had no choice but to go to Lu Jinghan for help.
In the living room, Lu Jinghan was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window on the phone, his slender fingers holding a cigarette casually tapping against the glass. Hearing footsteps, Lu Jinghan turned to look at Han Xi, said a few simple words to the person on the phone, and hung up.
"What’s up?" Lu Jinghan asked, moving to extinguish his cigarette in the ashtray on the coffee table.
Han Xi hesitated, lowering her eyes, her thick eyelashes casting a shadow on her fair skin. She tucked some stray hair behind her ear before awkwardly speaking, "Well... my period just came, and we don’t have any sanitary pads at home... Could you help me buy some?"
"Just wait at home, I’ll go buy them for you right away."
Han Xi lifted her head shyly to look at him, "Thank you."
Lu Jinghan reached out and gently pinched Han Xi’s cheek, deep affection evident in his eyes, "Why should you thank me for buying sanitary pads for my own wife?"
In truth, Han Xi was mainly worried that he would feel embarrassed, as a man, buying such things for a woman. That’s why she wanted to thank him.
But Mr. Lu didn’t seem to feel awkward at all. He acted as if it was perfectly natural.
Watching Lu Jinghan leave, Han Xi turned and headed towards the kitchen, "Sister Zhang, do we have a heating pad at home?"
Han Xi’s stomach was quite painful; she wanted to use a heating pad to relieve it.
Sister Zhang, busy cooking, heard her and put down what she was doing. She turned around with a cheerful smile, "Madam, what do you need the heating pad for?"
Han Xi frowned and pointed to her lower abdomen, "My period is here, and my stomach hurts a bit. I want to use a heating pad to ease it."
"Yes, yes, I’ll get it for you right away."
Sister Zhang wiped her hands with a towel and quickly went to the living room drawer to fetch the heating pad, "Madam, I’ll also make you some brown sugar water; it can help alleviate the pain."
Han Xi accepted the heating pad and smiled, nodding, "Thank you, Sister Zhang."
"It’s nothing, Madam, it’s what I’m here for." Sister Zhang happily returned to the kitchen to prepare the brown sugar water for Han Xi.
Han Xi took the heating pad upstairs, charged it, and lay curled up on the bed. Why must women go through this every month, and why must it be so painful? It’s really such a hassle.
Lu Jinghan stepped out of the villa but didn’t drive; there was a supermarket just five or six minutes’ walk away from the neighborhood.
Under the warm street lights, the man wore a loose white sweater, light blue jeans, and white shoes, a black umbrella shading his delicate features.
Upon entering the supermarket, Lu Jinghan placed his umbrella on the rack and calmly asked the nearby sales assistant where the sanitary pads were located.
The sales assistant, a young girl who looked just over twenty, had never seen such a handsome and magnetic man like Lu Jinghan. Blushing, she pointed to a shelf not far away and said shyly, "On that shelf over there."
Lu Jinghan nodded with a smile and said, "Thank you."
The young girl sighed inwardly, wondering which fortunate woman had such a wonderful boyfriend. She was so envious.
