Her heart was pounding like a frightened fawn, and her mind was a flustered blank.
Lu Jinghan touched his lips, unsatisfied: "You taste very sweet."
Does this man even know what he’s saying? Han Xi wished she could find a hole to crawl into, it was too embarrassing.
Also, why did he have to be so close to her?
Han Xi glanced at the surroundings; it seemed like a residential area. She shifted the topic awkwardly: "Weren’t we going to eat? What is this place?"
Lu Jinghan pulled himself back and sat in the driver’s seat again: "This is my home."
Han Xi looked at him warily, feeling like she had boarded a pirate ship.
Lu Jinghan observed the woman in front of him with a look as if she was facing an enemy, and chuckled silently: "What’s with that expression? I’m not going to eat you. I just happened to want to eat at home."
Lu Jinghan tousled Han Xi’s slightly messy hair from sleeping earlier, then opened the car door and got out.
Han Xi sat there pressing her lips together until Lu Jinghan opened the passenger door, and then she snapped out of it.
"Come on out." Seeing her adorably slow response, Lu Jinghan felt his heart skip a beat.
Han Xi uttered an "Oh," grabbed her bag, got out of the car, and followed Lu Jinghan towards the villa.
Once inside, Lu Jinghan bent down and took out a pair of brand new white women’s slippers from the shoe cabinet for her. Han Xi removed her shoes, changed into the slippers, and was immediately startled by a white Persian cat darting in front of her, instinctively grabbing Lu Jinghan’s arm.
She was most afraid of furry animals, especially cats.
"What’s wrong, you’re afraid of cats?"
Lu Jinghan looked at her hand clinging to his arm, a deep and swirling smile on his lips.
Han Xi’s entire body stiffened, feeling a chill down her spine: "Can you take it away?"
"I can, but you have to let go first."
Only then did Han Xi realize her blunder and immediately released his arm.
Lu Jinghan bent down, picked up the big cat, walked to the balcony, and placed it in a cage.
Han Xi finally took a deep breath and walked towards the living room: "Um...weren’t we going to eat here? What’s in the fridge? Are you cooking or am I?"
To cover her awkwardness, Han Xi deliberately changed the subject.
"Were you scratched by a cat before?" Lu Jinghan asked, rather than answering.
"I’ve never been scratched by a cat, just naturally very scared of furry animals, especially cats." Han Xi placed her shoulder bag on the sofa.
Lu Jinghan nodded, as if it all made sense: "You must be tired after working all morning, watch some TV. I’ll make the food."
Lu Jinghan casually said, as though they were a couple who had been living together for a long time.
Han Xi nodded, sat on the sofa, and looked around the room. Everything was decorated in black, gray, and white tones, but it had a tasteful vibe; each piece of furniture and item seemed costly.
Han Xi couldn’t help but sigh, the world of the wealthy is indeed extravagant.
Lu Jinghan walked into the kitchen, fetched vegetables and eggs from the fridge, rolled up his sleeves to the elbows, and seriously started washing and cutting the vegetables...
Listening to the subtle sounds coming from the kitchen, Han Xi lifted her head to look over, and from her position she could perfectly see Lu Jinghan’s exquisitely deep side profile. The light cast on his tall and handsome figure, giving him an alluring charm.
After more than ten minutes, Lu Jinghan came out of the kitchen holding two bowls of noodles: "Come and eat."
