Gu Qili’s heart was in her throat.
Contrary to her nervousness, Mu Shuoqian was quite calm; the basketball bounced lively under his palms, while Chen Yishu, bent halfway, defended against him.
Suddenly, Mu Shuoqian made a sharp turn with the ball. Chen Yishu quickly moved to the side, but it was just a feint. Mu Shuoqian successfully shook Chen Yishu off, jumped, and shot the ball which landed precisely in the hoop.
Chen Yishu’s expression turned serious, his eyes focused. Though it was a simple fake move, it was executed smooth like flowing water, a level only seen in professional players.
He took another look at Mu Shuoqian, feeling a sense of familiarity, as if he had seen him somewhere before.
In his brief moment of distraction, the basketball he was dribbling was touched, and soon ended up in Mu Shuoqian’s hands. Someone from the side called out, "Yishu, what are you thinking?"
A contest between experts could not afford the slightest negligence.
Chen Yishu cursed himself silently, but then he saw Gu Qili not far away. She stretched her neck and clenched both fists in front of her chest, looking obviously tensed.
Was she nervous for him?
Uplifted by that thought, Chen Yishu quickly attempted to block Mu Shuoqian’s upcoming layup, but he was a step too late, and the ball went in again.
The competition on the court heated up due to Mu Shuoqian’s basket.
The last ball control was now in Mu Shuoqian’s hands. Chen Yishu needed to block this one and make another basket himself to win, while Mu Shuoqian needed only to shoot this in.
He seemed to have calculated it all along.
Mu Shuoqian stood at the three-point line, not moving, casually dribbling the basketball in place.
Chen Yishu thought, surely he wouldn’t dare shoot a three-pointer. If he missed, Chen could easily grab the rebound, and it would be impossible for him to defend in time; defeat was certain.
But he was wrong, Mu Shuoqian had already raised his arms, his feet outside the three-point line, knees slightly bent, and the basketball flew forward.
With everyone’s eyes tensed on the ball, it hit the hoop, circled rapidly several times inside the rim, looking like it would fly out, but then it settled back firmly, passing through the white net with a clang onto the floor.
