The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship Chapter 70

At noon, Gu Qili simply stir-fried two dishes. She didn’t know much about his dietary preferences, only aware that he had a stomach condition, so the dishes were very light.

He was always silent during meals, but today he suddenly asked, "Did you cook before?"

Gu Qili was stuffing a vegetable core into her mouth, not pondering why he would ask such a question, and casually shook her head: "No."

Growing up, the Gu Family had their own servants. Whatever they wanted to eat, they would just order from the kitchen, so there was no need for her to cook herself. Occasionally learning a few dessert recipes from the dessert chef wasn’t taken seriously and mostly forgotten by the next day; it was all just for fun.

The young miss of the Gu Family had always lived a life unacquainted with manual labor; how could she possibly cook? These skills were only acquired later.

Mu Shuoqian did not speak further, continuing to eat elegantly, and the topic was thus dropped.

After eating, Gu Qili packed her school bag and was about to go to school. As she stood in the foyer changing shoes, Mu Shuoqian was still on the sofa reading documents. Of course, she didn’t expect him to drive her, although it was on the way.

"I’m heading to school now. I have a tutor class tonight and will return later," she briefly explained and then closed the door behind her.

After Gu Qili left, Mu Shuoqian glanced at his watch, picked up his phone, and called Xiao Ran, giving a quiet order, "Continue the meeting."

Xiao Ran said, "It’s still raining outside, Yuan Yi is waiting outside for you."

Mu Shuoqian furrowed his brows, that fool seemed to have forgotten to bring an umbrella.

Without a sound, he ended the call, grabbed his coat, and walked out. Once outside, Yuan Yi was already waiting there, seemingly having done so for the whole morning.

Gu Qili only realized it was still raining once she stepped outside, but she was too lazy to go back for an umbrella, especially since the rain was mild and not enough to soak someone. For original chapters go to n0velfire.net

Not far from Jingshan was the bus stop, where one of the routes could take her to school.

Gu Qili was standing under a shelter waiting for the bus when a Maybach 62, splashing through puddles, slowly stopped in front of her. There were also two or three other people waiting at the bus stop who couldn’t help but take a few extra glances at the luxurious car.

Gu Qili cheerfully opened the car door and got in, greeted Yuan Yi who was driving, and then moved to the back seat.

Mu Shuoqian’s demeanor remained cold, his gaze sweeping over her slightly wet jeans with a look of disdain.

Gu Qili could only grab a clean towel from the storage box and spread it over the seat before she confidently sat down, knowing how much he cherished this Maybach.

Whether it was on the way or not, the fact that he stopped to give her a lift made her feel somewhat elated, proving at least that he was not so indifferent and unfeeling.

Yuan Yi started the car, then hurriedly and somewhat awkwardly explained after receiving a look from Mu Shuoqian, "Madam, it was my decision to stop. Seeing you standing alone in the rain, with no idea when the bus would arrive, it would be bad if you caught a cold."

Yuan Yi’s gaze was especially sincere, as if saying, really, it was truly my decision to pick you up, and it had nothing to do with Young Master Qian.

Leaning against the seat, Mu Shuoqian looked at his phone as if he hadn’t heard Yuan Yi’s conversation with her.

Gu Qili silently sighed. She only said thank you, but was he thinking too much, so eager to clear himself of the act?

Would Yuan Yi dare to stop the car on his own without his order?

Did he think she was an idiot?

Is doing a good deed such a disgraceful thing?

Without exposing his deception, Gu Qili smiled and said, "Thank you."

Embarrassed, Yuan Yi turned his head, his expression as stiff as if it was glued. This difficult task was indeed far more challenging than driving; he really was not good at acting!
