The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship Chapter 99

At the moment, the cafeteria wasn’t quite at mealtime, but the food was already prepared, steaming hot and lined up, with the chefs making their final arrangements.

Gu Qili picked a rather inconspicuous spot to place her backpack and glanced at Mu Shuoqian, who was frowning, clearly dissatisfied with the somewhat greasy table and bench.

He had insisted on coming to the cafeteria, but as soon as he arrived, he started to pick faults, truly difficult to serve. Follow current novᴇls on NoveI[F]ire.net

Gu Qili had no choice but to take out a wet wipe from her backpack and meticulously wiped down the table and chair. Having finished, she looked at him with a resigned invitation to sit down.

Mu Shuoqian then sat down and surveyed the surroundings. The empty cafeteria seemed especially spacious, and the tables and chairs were neatly arranged.

Gu Qili didn’t ask him what he would like to eat, guessing that he wouldn’t say even if she asked. On such little things, he was always reluctant to make decisions unless he had something specific in mind that he wanted to eat.

She went to the window to get food. The chef was surprised to see her come so early and teased her while serving, "Student, skipping class again today?"

Gu Qili thought to herself, she clearly has the face of a good student, not at all like someone who would skip class.

"Master Chef, please give me less chili."

Mu Shuoqian’s stomach couldn’t handle it well, so she always tried to keep the food she prepared for him bland, and she almost never cooked anything that could irritate the stomach.

The chef, always generous to the ladies, picked out the chili from the dishes one by one after hearing her request and even introduced her to today’s new dish, potato puree with chicken gravy.

Mu Shuoqian wouldn’t use the cafeteria’s bowls and chopsticks, but he had no qualms about her lunchbox.

She handed him the chopsticks, so she had to use a spoon.

Scooping rice into her mouth, Gu Qili couldn’t help but ask curiously, "Why are you at school?"

Mu Shuoqian handled her chopsticks as if they were meant for him, savoring the taste in his mouth; they had her flavor, so could this be considered an indirect kiss? Thinking of this, he lasciviously licked the chopsticks with his tongue.

Mu Shuoqian thought something dirty in his mind but answered her question with a serious face: "Something came up."

Gu Qili rolled her eyes; she knew she would get no real answer by asking.

However, she still boldly guessed that Mu Shuoqian chose neither to come early nor late, but precisely when Qi Meihui came to find her—it couldn’t be that he had foreseen Qi Meihui coming over about Guan Zhe’s matter, could it?

So, he descended from above nonchalantly, afraid that she would be bullied?

Gu Qili bit her spoon; was she being overly sentimental again?

"How should I drink this soup?" Mu Shuoqian suddenly looked at the winter melon and pork rib soup in front of him and then at the spoon in Gu Qili’s hand; his intention was clear—he couldn’t drink soup with chopsticks.

Gu Qili hesitated before saying, "Then I’ll go wash it."

He said ’no need’ and very naturally took the spoon still in her hand, tasted a spoonful of soup, and after keeping the spoon in his mouth for a while, he took it out. He seemed to be savoring the delicious flavor of the soup, but in Gu Qili’s eyes, his enraptured expression appeared rather obscene.

Was she seeing things?

The two of them sharing a spoon, especially after she had just bitten it, made Gu Qili feel somewhat embarrassed—after all, their relationship hadn’t reached that level of intimacy. But since he didn’t mind, why should she worry about it?

They ate quietly, no one speaking, until a dissonant voice broke into the tranquillity at the dining table.

"Young Master Qian? Is that really you? I thought my eyes were deceiving me," Deng Feifei, dressed in a black tight dress, walked over with her tray, her face full of surprise and delight.

She could hardly believe she would encounter Mu Shuoqian at school, the man she could only look up to from afar; rejected last time outside his car, this time, she was determined to redeem herself.
