The Second Chance of Reincarnator Chapter 45

Kael fired the black revolver and hit the strawman object in the distance.

The target was about fifteen meters away, and his bullets landed in the leg, in the right arm, and in the left shoulder.

Kael sighed, shook the black revolver in frustration, and crafted a few more bullets, which he slid inside the chamber.

Sitting on top of a fallen tree, a man with a cigarette on his lips puffed out the smoke and then pulled the cigarette out of his mouth.

"Do you have prior shooting experience?"

He was one of the teachers of the School of Divinity and Mysticism—he was solely responsible for teaching the art of shooting to Outlaw and Ranged students.

"Before Whitesky? No."

"I can see that. You know how to aim and pull the trigger, but that's pretty much it. Luckily the revolver of the Outlaws is easy to use. It's been extremely simplified.

"Your stance is all wrong, though. You're too upright. Bend your knees a little more, and lean forward slightly."

"Feet shoulder-width apart, and please, use a firm two-handed grip. You've only used a one-handed grip, and while it may look cool, it's very impractical."

Kael took the two-handed grip, aimed at the middle of the strawman's head, and pulled the trigger.

The bullet crossed the distance and grazed the strawman's cheek before lodging itself in the tree behind it.

At that moment, Armand walked over towards him, and Kael turned to him with the revolver still in hand.

"If you dare to point that gun at me even for a split second, I'll beat your ass."

Kael lifted the revolver to point at the sky to make sure the barrel wouldn't accidentally point at Armand.

"You still have plenty to learn, but that's enough for today…"

He checked the silver timepiece in his pocket and saw that the class had ended for now.

"The headmaster, Arthur, will be awaiting you in his office. Do not idle around, and go straight there."

Armand said, picking up the bullet-riddled strawman, and then left with that stuffed between his arm and torso.

Kael turned back to the tree, pointed the revolver at one of its low-hanging branches, and pulled the trigger.

The bullet flew over the branch, grazed the tree trunk, and embedded itself into the dirt.

'It looks like I can currently accurately hit a non-moving target from about nine meters away. After that, it's less accurate, and if the target is moving, it's even more difficult for me.'

Kael flicked his wrist, made the revolver disappear, and then headed back to the school mansion, and after a few moments of trying to find his way around, he found his way to the headmaster's office.

After double knocking on the door, he was let in, and he saw that Arthur, and Thomas were enjoying the evening tea while sitting next to the wide window that overlooked the town in the distance.

There was a slight wind breeze coming through the window, making the curtains flutter gently, and since this world didn't have air conditioning, that's the best they could do to cool off on a hot evening.

"Young Kael, how were the classes?"

Arthur asked and sniffed the air, realizing that Kael smelled like gunpowder, and it was clear that he just came from the shooting class.

"They were alright. I learned something new."

Kael said, and after greeting Thomas as well, he kept standing in the middle of the office as there weren't empty seats for himself.

"Kael, I've been discussing with Arthur about you taking a job back in the Dark Jewel's Corner. Every student has a job or two to make some money and contribute to the society.

"Most Blessed Ones, who've gone past the education phase, contribute to the society in different ways.

"The most common way was to take up missions from the Guild and complete them in exchange for payment.

"However, since all of you are still just learning, that won't be possible, as they require more experience and skill.

"Failing a mission also affects the Guild's reputation."

Kael asked curiously.

"What about you being… Corpse Collector?"

Arthur asked with a serious gaze.

It took a while for Kael's mind to register his words, and when it did, he just crossed his legs and frowned.

It wasn't what he imagined, and for a moment, he thought it was a joke, but it was clear based on their expressions that they were dead serious.

'I'd be surrounded by corpses all day, and smelling like the rotting flesh.'

Kael massaged his temples, then scratched his hair, and looked at them to see if they also had other options.

However, by the looks of it, it didn't look like there was any better option for him either.

"Why… Why as a Corpse Collector, if I may ask?"

"In the Corpse Collector circles, you've made a name for yourself. They know about you, who made a dangerous trip to Ants Village to retrieve all those corpses.

"That showed you are brave, and that's a trait that is very much admired in the Corpse Collector's line of work."

"Your name wasn't known, but I had a talk with the boss of Dark Jewel Corner's branch. I told him about you, and he is willing to give you a chance to work with them."

Kael tapped his finger against his thigh, scratched the back of his head, and asked.

"Can I think about it?"

"Sure, but the alternative choice is being Ore Hacker. It can be a good choice, as well, but as Corpse Collector, you can see the outside world more than just being stuck inside a mine.

"Think about it well."

"Mmh… Thomas, may I talk to you?"

Kael asked as he headed to the door, and Thomas nodded—he took his hat off, bowed at Arthur, and followed after Kael out of the door.

While walking down the hallway, Kael shook his head and asked.

"Corpse Collector… Are you kidding me?"

"It might not seem like it, but it is a very respected job… Your classes are over for today; what if I take you to see the Dark Jewel's Corner and take you to meet the Corpse Collectors?"
