The Seventh Base Chapter 772

Chapter 772: Chapter 122: The Son-in-law of Lucas Star

News came from Lucas Star that the fleet of the Mandala United Kingdom appeared in the Star Domain of the Star System Alliance and launched a military strike on its border regions.

A single stone caused a thousand ripples. Although it was only a minor military strike, for the Star System Alliance it was a significant matter. It could very well be a harbinger of an impending war.

King Richard of Lucas Star, in conjunction with the executive council of the Star System Alliance, would convene a virtual meeting of the Star System Alliance, inviting all major planets to discuss countermeasures.

If the Mandala United Kingdom were to launch a large-scale war, it wouldn’t be a matter of just one or two planets. Even Lucas Star, the most powerful of them all, would find it difficult to withstand the invasion from the Mandala United Kingdom alone. It would require a joint resistance from the entire Star System Alliance.

In addition, all the major planets had initiated emergency measures, preparing to strengthen planetary defenses, known on Lucas Star as the Star Shield.

The Star Shield, a terrifying offensive and defense network forged around the periphery of Lucas Star, was co-constructed by the Federation Government and another top-tier smart machinery company, costing astronomical figures. This top-tier company is also a behemoth group on Lucas Star.

In a few more days, Lucas Star would celebrate the Lune Festival, and nobody expected that news of war would arrive on the eve of the Lune Festival. This year’s Lune Festival is unlikely to be peaceful.

Lucas University was welcoming graduation, with people gradually leaving the school.

In the library, Xu Mo was still there, sitting and reading a book.

After Ross’s press conference, Xu Mo had been waiting for the outside world’s reaction for several days, but he found that there seemed to be no commotion.

However, this was not surprising. It was normal for King Richard to take action against him as well as to refrain. Taking action would be to vent anger, while refraining would be for the sake of interests.

Clearly, the king’s rationality had suppressed his anger.

Destroying Blue Star Energy Technology Group would bring no benefits to Lucas Star. On the contrary, it would cause substantial losses and push them towards other planets, which obviously did not align with the interests of Lucas Star.

Furthermore, there was now the news of the war.

“Xu Mo.” Just as Xu Mo was pondering, a figure appeared and sat down opposite him—it was a female student.

“Delia,” Xu Mo called out.

“Are you really the Guardian Knight of Princess Elizabeth and the founder of Blue Star Energy Technology?” Delia asked.

“Hmm,” Xu Mo responded. Ross made the announcement public in order to escalate the issue somewhat, aiming to bring government supervision by the people of Lucas Star, as public opinion can sometimes offer a certain level of protection.

Delia’s eyes gleamed with admiration. How had Xu Mo managed to be so impressive?

“Knowing you for so long, I never realized you are so outstanding. How could you dare to refuse the Federation Government?” said Delia with a sweet smile.

“If you look closely, you’ll find that I am actually even more outstanding,” Xu Mo replied with a smile. “As for rejecting the Federation Government, Lucas Star is a civilized planet, and I trust that the Federation Government will abide by order.”

Delia smiled as she looked at Xu Mo, thinking how shameless he was.

“I don’t believe in politicians,” Delia spoke up. Xu Mo was clearly fibbing; if he genuinely believed that civilized planets wouldn’t have issues, he wouldn’t have blown things out of proportion.

“So, Zero is your official girlfriend, then what about Princess Elizabeth?” Delia asked curiously.

“…” Xu Mo looked at her and said, “Otherwise, could there be several?”

What did she mean by ‘official’?

“It’s not impossible,” Delia said as she looked at Xu Mo. “Actually, I don’t mind that.”

As she said this, stars twinkled in Delia’s eyes.

“Uh…” Xu Mo blinked, looking at Delia’s pretty and cute face, thinking to himself that it might not be impossible.

“Then I shall be the sister from now on,” a voice sounded as Zero arrived, smiling at Delia.

“…” It was now Delia’s turn to blink, looking at Zero with her cheeks turning slightly red, and said, “Just kidding,” before shyly leaving.

After Delia left, Zero looked at Xu Mo with a hint of curiosity and said, “Didn’t you say it was possible? Why did she leave then?”

Her innocent eyes appeared genuinely puzzled.

“Zero,” Xu Mo called out.

“Yes?” Zero’s big eyes looked at Xu Mo.

“Where did you learn to be so bad?” Xu Mo asked, feeling like Zero had become quite adept at handling such situations.

“Isn’t that what you like?” Zero said, her pure eyes gazing at Xu Mo.

“I like you no matter what,” Xu Mo said.

Zero smiled satisfactorily.

Xu Mo felt that Zero was evolving incrementally, with an incredibly strong learning ability. If this continued, the consequences were unimaginable.

“Xu Mo, see you next year.” As Xu Mo and Zero sat together, there were still girls laughing and greeting him as if they intended to provoke Xu Mo.

“See you next year,” Xu Mo responded, but he thought to himself that whether he would see them next year was another matter. With Blue Star Energy Technology clashing with the Federation Government and Mandala Star showing signs of launching a war, he didn’t know how much longer he could stay. He might not come back next year.

However, having spent two years there, he had grown quite accustomed to the library. Reading books and looking at beautiful women was indeed very leisurely and pleasant.

Zero had also gotten used to the girls greeting her, and presumably, there would be even more such situations in the future; she had learned to ignore this already.

“Zero, if I don’t come back next year, will you continue your studies or…?” Xu Mo asked Zero, with her second year nearly over and two more years to go.

Zero’s eyes met Xu Mo’s as she said, “Would you like me to stay at school and continue studying?”
