"Ares," I whispered, I hadn’t seen him all night, he turned to look at me, and he didn’t look any happier seeing me and our last conversation came rushing back to me. "I didn’t tell him it was you." I breathed out.
"He is not a fool Olivia, I think he knows, he is just waiting for one of us to speak and he knows you won’t because you are trying to protect me."
"Luca only means well you know, he is not going to hurt you or anyone," I whispered when I sliced the tomato and he looked away from me.
His words didn’t have to say it, his eyes already did, he didn’t want me here, he wanted somewhere else, away from this place, away from Luca, I wish he would change the way he sees me vacated now I would never leave, I couldn’t stay without Luca even if I wanted to.
"You want me gone don’t you, I know I made a promise- no Olivia, you broke that promise a long time ago, and he was starting to do so much better." Ares spoke cutting me off, his tone harsh and unwelcoming, my eyes were on his, filled with sadness.
"I will make him better." I breathed out. "I always do."
"You make him weak, you make him think with his heart and we don’t need that and to make it all worse, you brought trouble back with you, those people were never going to hurt you because you were away from Luca, if you has sticked to the plan, they would think staying with you is a waste of time and they need to back off." He explained.
"I would not even be a target to anyone if Luca didn’t purchase me from my husband, you stand here making it sound like I did everything I wanted to do to make sure that I will be in danger when in reality, you know where the danger lies, you are aware that I would have never even be apart of any of this if everything didn’t happen and now you stand here to tell me it’s all my fault and Luca deserves to be alone," I spoke, my voice calm, and I felt like I was speaking like Luca, my mind filled with calmness.
Anger didn’t do any good, it only made someone yell and when you yell, it doesn’t help.
"Luca was never happy, he was never doing any better and he found me the next day I left, he just didn’t do anything about it, he suffered for so long because you thought it’s a good idea, and Aria thought it would be best if he is away from me and I don’t blame any of you, I am the one that left, despite everything, and I had the right to but you Ares you need to change the way you see me because u am here to stay and you don’t have to worry about Luca, I promise you he will never hear any thing negative about you from me."
"You are not doing me a favor by doing that, you have no idea how the pack works Olivia, you have never been in one, not even a part of your family, we burn by strength and we don’t need our Alpah to be astray, the other wolves see you are a savior someone that will help Luca, someone that will make him better and free him from the curse." He stated and my eyes met his.
I glanced at him again, without speaking a single word, did he have a conversation with Aria, because he is even more bitter about me than he was before, he was never , I always saw him as someone who cared about me and I always thought he had even a little understanding about why I left.
"It’s fine Ares, you want me to leave, in your mind Luca has lived with this curse for years and he has been able to do it, in your mind I am not the only one, they are more like me and all he needs to do is search for one, and if I am right, I have a feeling you are ready looking for someone like me for him, and maybe you are close to it, maybe all you need is a perfect conversation to tell him to let go of me." I breathed out.
I really didn’t want to yell.
"Please don’t say a single word, just leave," I added and without a word, he left the room.
This is not how I pictured my morning to go, when I woke up, the first thought that came to my mind was that I wanted to make Luca something special, I wanted us to start our morning in the right way and Ares had to ruin it.
He would never like me, even though I don’t realize what I had done wrong, what did he know about our relationship, they are things we never showed the world, things that Luca and I kept between us and I always preferred it like that.
Ares has never been in love, he has no idea what it’s like to leave someone you love and care about, and the love we share, both Luca and it strengthen our werewolf bond, it makes it curse even more weaker and I know by the time we get to the next full moon, everything will be better, he didn’t have to tell me for me to know that.
After an hour of trying not to think and making a meal, I finally was able to make a perfect meal for Luca when I felt his scent, he is awake and he is getting closer, it did surprise me he didn’t wake up this morning, I had thought he would the moment I headed out of the room yet I am glad he didn’t.
Luca would have never let me cook especially with my feet.
Luca and I enjoyed breakfast in no time, I didn’t tell him about Ares, I didn’t want to spoil both our moods After it, he took care of my wound and made sure I stayed in bed with him, while we watched a movie.
"Your phone keeps making noise Luca, how long are you going to avoid it?" I whispered, he didn’t speak, instead, he reached out for his phone and a curse fell out of his lips.
I know that he wanted to just not be with his pack but he can’t avoid them forever.
"Go see what it is, I will be here," I whispered. "Come on Luca, I am not going to disappear and I think we have outgrown the thought of me leaving you, it’s not happening," I explained and he smiled.
"If you do run, I will find you and this time I will have you chained to my bed, keep you here until you learn never to leave me." He stated and I playfully rolled my eyes at him.
He gently placed a kiss on my lips before he pulled away and even he did. I found myself watching the movie.
After an hour, I found myself wandering around the house and I found myself in the room, the same room I was taken, the same room that I found the things I should not have, Everything here felt like a memory or a nightmare of Luca.
Either way, Luca didn’t hide anything from me or anyone, my fingers found their place touching every painting, every picture and it stopped at the picture of his brother.
I thought about what he would be like, what he would say if he had met me, would he have liked me, or like Ares, would he have hated me; how would Luca be if he were alive? I think Luca would have been even more human, he could have cared about people.
He would have known how to handle his emotions and how not to have an outburst.
I reached toward the other side of the room when I saw a painting covered, I covered my mouth with my hand while I used the other hand to take it off and I saw Luca, young Luca but he was not alone, there was someone beside him.
Someone that I have seen before, someone that scared me all this time, I glanced at the picture again and my breath hitches as I stared at the man, it’s him, the same man I saw with Natalie.
He stood with Luca and he didn’t look happy, there was another picture, a better picture which I retrieved from the ground, it had the man and he was holding a baby, he looked a lot younger in this picture.
How is he related to Luca, is he a family friend or someone different, or worse he is family.
