But the person that was coming at him at top speed was undeniably Eldrin!
He had his face but Drenvar knew instinctively that it wasn't the same Eldrin that he knew. The man coming toward him was far more different than the person he knew.
He straightened and his Beast pressed closer to him.
He raised his sword wearily. Using the Law had drained him more than he expected and caused a chill to start from his heart and spread to the rest of his body.
He was so far from his peak state that even a stage two would kill him.
"Eldrin!" Drenvar shouted, his voice cold. "I'll kill you if you come any closer!"
But the new Eldrin simply ignored him and before long he was standing in front of Drenvar. His black eyes fell on the Dragon Lord, a look that made him shiver uncontrollably as if he was looking at something extremely dangerous that his senses could not even access.
All he could do was flinch back. Even his arrogant Beast could only bow its head without saying anything.
"So you are the Dragon Lord but you have no Dragon within you." The voice was soft and still a roar at the same time. All that heard it felt their minds shake as if they might shatter.
Drenvar's Beast could not maintain its manifestation again and disappeared.
The Eldrin continued. "But at the moment, you are the strongest in the Dragon's bloodline, so I shall eat you."
Drenvar shivered uncontrollably and he knew... he just knew that he was about to die! No fighting back would help!
All his plots, all his ambitions, all of them gone just like that without him even knowing why. Confusion and fear filled him.
'...I'm going to die... in such a worthless way, by what I don't even understand...'
The Eldrin reached out his hand but Drenvar finally forced himself to open his mouth. "Wait! Wait! T... there is a Dragon in Vorrakyn. My son, Vacuse Vorrakyn, has an SSS Dragon! You can eat him! That is what you want, right? A Dragon!"
The Eldrin paused, then nodded. "I know of the Dragon but currently, we are playing a game of cat and mouse."
Drenvar could not have been more shocked as he stared at him blankly.
"I know that Dragon and he knows me. I am not strong enough to fight it."
The hope that was growing in Drenvar had been brutally snuffed out. But he still forced himself.
All of this was happening while war raged beneath them in a tide of gore.
Any Soulbearer that flew close to them instinctively stopped and ran back, swaying as their senses of danger drowned them.
"He's not powerful... he's only at the second stage!"
The Eldrin blinked and then smiled for the first time. A smile that twisted his whole face up into something ghastly. He shook his head. "My presence will bring out the Dragon. The Void Dragon."
Drenvar shivered and his face went blank. This man before him, who carried so much power, was afraid of the Void Dragon? What the...
But he did not have the time to think of anything else as the Eldrin raised his hand and reached out to Drenvar's abdomen as if he was about to pluck something!
Drenvar's body stiffened so hard he felt as if he was made of stone. Hatred and bitterness filled him as he knew he would soon be dead.
The hand reached his stomach and coldness followed stiffness.
His soul space shook and his Beast began to howl in pain.
'...this thing... is trying to take my soul space?...'
There was not even a chance or will to struggle. His senses were failing him and the connection with his Beast was weakening fast. He could feel fingers of coldness touching his soul space, about to rip it free together with his Beast.
All the people that were observing were just as shocked and confused because no one knew what was going on, although most of them knew that the Eldrin was possessed.
But they could not tell who it was exactly that was about to kill the Dragon Lord, but they were all waiting to start reaping the benefit.
Then something happened.
Something strange and unexpected that shocked everyone, including the Eldrin and the Dragon Lord.
The clouds above them parted and a large shadow was cast over the land.
Those fighting looked up in awe and horror as a Dragon suddenly appeared!
Powerful pressure radiated from it and the sky quickly turned gloomy. Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed. Individual clouds then began to turn into lightning!
The Eldrin opened his mouth in sheer shock. "This is..."
It took a few seconds before everyone realized that it was not actually a real Dragon. It was a Dragon made of stone and covered with countless runes.
It was a War construct!!
And sitting atop it was the High Commander of the wilderness border!
The High Commander looked down and then he fell like a thunderbolt.
Straight at the Eldrin!
The possessed Eldrin moved back in shock, leaving Drenvar to face the new opponent. He raised his hand and shadows began to gather in thick blackness.
But the High Commander was going all out!
All the individual clouds that had turned to lightning converged into the High Commander! He slammed through the shield that the Eldrin created and barraged into him.
The Eldrin exploded in a shower of blood and gore.
High Commander Rhydian Vorrakyn stood there in the air, his eyes like lightning and his hair shining brilliant silver. He turned to the Dragon Lord.
Drenvar Vorrakyn was still feeling shocked by the near-death and how the Eldrin was destroyed. He stared at his brother and blinked a few times. "Rhydian... behind you."
Bits of darkness slid free from Eldrin's blood, formed into a figure, and then disappeared as if it could not sustain itself after its possessed host was destroyed.
Drenvar took a deep breath. His body was still cold and his power only still recovering. But he was the Dragon Lord and his second bit of plan that Vacuse proposed was now happening.
