Rabid Dog spat Uvogin's flesh onto the ground in disgust.
Uvogin's expression changed. A large amount of poison had entered his body, rendering parts of him gradually immobile.
Leech appeared behind him. What looked like a grotesque tongue emerged— but it was not a tongue, but a real leech. A massive leech crawled to the wound on Uvogin's shoulder and began laying eggs.
"This is my ability," he said. "Inside my body, I breed countless leeches. These leeches will enter your bloodstream through your wound and crawl into your bladder. Then they hatch inside you. Thousands of them hatching at once—that feeling is going to be absolutely exquisite."
"The pain you're feeling now will be nothing compared to what comes next."
But before Leech could finish his words—
Uvogin turned his head and bit savagely into Leech's face.
There was no resistance. A chunk of Leech's head was gone in a single bite.
With that, Leech immediately lost all signs of life.
The sight stunned Rabid Dog and Porcupine.
Farther away, Dalzollene and the others had their eyes wide open in shock. A deep fear stirred in their hearts.
Kurapika's expression turned even darker.
"These are the devils who murdered my people," he muttered. "These murderers… I will kill them all. I will avenge my clan!"
Uvogin calmly chewed Leech's flesh. Suddenly, he turned his mouth toward Rabid Dog and opened wide.
A chunk of Leech's skull shot out like a bullet—heading straight for Rabid Dog.
Rabid Dog instinctively raised his hand to block it.
Even with aura concentrated in his palm, it wasn't enough. The bone shard pierced clean through his hand, then drove into his forehead.
It went through Rabid Dog's skull, tearing through the back of his head. His eyes widened as his body collapsed in unwilling silence.
"How is this possible?" Porcupine said, terrified.
Even though he believed Uvogin's attack wouldn't work on him, after seeing his comrades fall so easily, Porcupine could no longer be sure.
Uvogin turned toward him and inhaled deeply.
Porcupine's pupils contracted. He seemed to realize something—but it was too late.
A thunderous roar erupted from Uvogin's throat at point-blank range.
This kind of sonic attack was exactly the type Porcupine's ability couldn't defend against. His eardrums burst instantly.
And because his quills remained rigid, they resonated with Uvogin's voice, creating a deadly vibration. The damage was fatal.
Blood sprayed from Porcupine's ears. His whole body went limp. Uvogin swung his arm and flung him aside.
None of the Phantom Troupe were surprised by Uvogin's victory.
First, because he'd already seen this scene unfold before—back in his original world.
Second, because the moment the Shadow Beasts appeared, Ron had already judged their strength: It was unimpressive.
All four Shadow Beast members were not pure combat-type Nen users.
Leech was clearly a torture or healing specialist.
Worm's ability was highly terrain-dependent.
Porcupine was a support-combat hybrid.
Only Rabid Dog leaned toward full combat.
In their areas of expertise, they performed adequately.
Worm, for example, was able to sneak behind Uvogin without being noticed—his infiltration and aura-concealment were impressive. But his attack power was lacking.
Uvogin's body could withstand even rocket launchers, yet Rabid Dog's teeth were able to tear into his flesh.
Porcupine's quills could pierce Uvogin's body.
But the truth was: the Shadow Beasts were extremely lopsided in their skill sets.
"What they're good at, they're very good at. But what they lack… they completely suck at."
"When even their specialties couldn't restrain Uvogin, the outcome was already decided."
"As long as Uvogin applied pressure in the areas they were weakest in, they had no chance."
"Their flaws were far too obvious."
Ron looked away. All of this had been within his expectations.
He hadn't come to watch this fight.
He had come to observe something else.
"From the looks of it, Oster's research results haven't been used on these people yet. Otherwise, they wouldn't have died this easily."
Dalzollene, upon seeing the Shadow Beasts defeated, was already preparing to flee.
But at that moment, Kurapika advanced instead of retreating.
He headed straight toward Uvogin.
Dalzollene froze. "Kurapika, what are you doing?"
"What am I doing? I'm going to capture them!"
Dalzollene's pupils shrank.
"Don't be reckless! You saw what happened just now—even the Shadow Beasts weren't their match. How could you possibly stand against them?"
But Kurapika—mind clouded entirely by hatred—was in no mood to stop.
This was the closest he'd come in years.
He wouldn't let it slip away.
With the Shadow Beasts eliminated, the Phantom Troupe began to relax.
According to the intel they'd gathered, the Shadow Beasts were considered the elite Nen users within the Underworld Mafia.
Yet their performance had been underwhelming.
"So this is all the Shadow Beasts amount to? What a letdown. I was expecting a tougher fight."
Uvogin shook his head.
The other Troupe members felt the same.
At least Uvogin had gotten to act.
The rest hadn't even had a chance to fight.
"Time to head back," someone said.
But just then, Kurapika appeared.
A long chain shot toward Uvogin.
