The battlefield was in utter chaos. The second wave of demons had arrived, and the front-line SS-rank adventurers were holding them back. However, this only prevented the situation from worsening. The human side had the advantage, but it came at a great cost.
A demon using a young boy as a vessel, Ami, unleashed his power of "fire." His simple yet potent ability had inflicted significant damage on the allied forces. A massive fireball was launched, aiming to incinerate everyone in its vicinity.
"Spirit of noble fire, embodiment of flames, heed our call! Ifrit!"
At the forefront, Wendy, the granddaughter of the Elf chieftain, led a group of Elf warriors in chanting a spell. Suddenly, a giant made of flames appeared and neutralized the fireball.
"Elf spirit magic...!"
"It really exists...!"

The soldiers of the allied forces were invigorated. However, the summoned Ifrit vanished after neutralizing the fireball. The ritual magic performed by numerous Elves was spirit magic. The fireball launched by Ami and the strike from the summoned fire spirit were of equal power.
"I'll stop him! You finish him off!"
The two S-rank adventurers from the Adventurer's Guild, Chloe and Bruce Tarlant, took action. Bruce, known as the "Ice Prince," used his ice magic to counter Ami's fireball.
Bruce managed to block the fireball, but at a great cost. His arms were charred, rendered useless. Even so, he moved forward, acting as a decoy.
Ami launched another fireball, which Bruce countered with his ice magic. Despite his injuries, Bruce lunged at Ami, who easily pierced through him. But Bruce smiled.
Using his last moments, Bruce froze Ami, albeit briefly. Ami broke free and taunted, "Fool! You died in vain!" But behind him was a dark shadow.
Chloe swung her twin swords, severing Ami's arms. She continued her relentless assault, reducing Ami to pieces. Exhausted, Chloe knelt down but felt her magical energy being replenished.
"Reorganize the troops! Attack again!"
Nearby, Alida, the captain of the Imperial Guard, issued orders. Despite their losses, the soldiers were inspired by the adventurers' courage.
Chanting like a spell, the adventurers found renewed strength. Soldiers, initially low in morale, were uplifted by the adventurers' spirit and joined the battle cry.
Thus, the allied forces continued to fight, while at the same time paying a heavy price to defeat the demons.
