The lead police officer cuffed him and shouted loudly at the crowd around them.

Watching Chen Bin’s retreating figure, the female cop felt a tide of emotions.

In the interrogation room, the lead officer began interrogating Chen Bin.
"What’s your name? Why did you try to break into the County Committee and County Government?"

Despite Shao Jingsong’s attempts to placate him, Chen Bin remained unmoved.
"I’ll say it one last time: Bring your director here!"

He soon bumped into the same female officer again.
"Captain Shao, did you just make a significant capture?"
"Capture my ass—that kid’s actually a county leader!"
With a dismissive reply, Shao Jingsong jogged to the director’s office.
After some hesitation, he finally pushed the door open and went in.
Beihuang County’s deputy county magistrate and police director, Meng Chaoshan, was working at his desk. When he saw Shao Jingsong barge in, his brow furrowed slightly.
Still, he asked, "What’s the matter? What’s so urgent that you forgot to knock?"
"Well... I accidentally arrested the new County Political Consultative Conference Chairman."
Upon hearing this, Meng Chaoshan’s brow furrowed even more deeply.
"What happened exactly?"
"There were a bunch of unruly people blocking the County Committee and County Government, demanding money. I led the team to maintain order and saw someone trying to break in, so I detained him."
"Did he reveal his identity right then?"
"He did, but I didn’t recognize him. I thought he was lying and... cuffed him anyway."
The more Meng Chaoshan listened, the angrier he became. He let out a cold snort.

Seeing that his pleas weren’t working, Shao Jingsong’s tone became colder.
"Fine—if you won’t help, I’ll go to my third uncle!"
Turning his head to glare at Shao, Meng Chaoshan snapped back.
"What, you want to use your third uncle to pressure me?"

After hesitating for a moment, Meng Chaoshan sighed and got up, heading downstairs.
Once he entered the interrogation room, he extended his hand to Chen Bin with an apologetic smile.

Chen Bin shook his cuffed hands slightly and responded coldly.

"You idiot—who told you to cuff Chairman Chen? Unlock them now!"
Just as Shao Jingsong pulled out the key and moved to unlock the cuffs, Chen Bin evaded him.

At a loss for words, Shao Jingsong looked helplessly at Meng Chaoshan.
Giving him a stern glare, Meng Chaoshan turned back to Chen Bin with a smile and said.
"Chairman Chen, my subordinate detained you wrongly. It was my failure in enforcing discipline, and I’ve already given him a harsh reprimand. I will promptly convene a meeting with our team and implement stricter rules to ensure this doesn’t happen again!"
"Great—hold that meeting right now. I’ll sit in and observe."
Meng Chaoshan hadn’t expected this new chairman to be so uncompromising.
But on reflection, it wasn’t entirely unreasonable.
If it had been him, getting arrested on his first day in office would’ve made him furious too.
