"I feel pretty normal about it." Gina Lopez smiled smugly, casually turned off the bedside lamp, and said, "If you’re out of money, you can tell me."
"Don’t worry, I definitely will," James Brown yawned after speaking and turned his back to Gina Lopez.
Less than two minutes later, Gina Lopez hugged him from behind again, causing James Brown to inwardly groan. Wasn’t this asking for his life? During the mahjong game, Emily Lopez had already worn him out a bit, and now with Gina Lopez doing this, wasn’t it just tempting him to make a mistake?
"It was really close today. We almost got caught," Gina Lopez’s behavior was more natural than yesterday’s. She leaned against James Brown’s back and even chatted with him.
James Brown immediately replied, "I’m not doing this job anymore. It’s too depressing, making me hide under the table for so long."
Gina Lopez gently traced her fingers across James Brown’s chest and said, "You took quite a few advantages today; you didn’t lose out."
"Don’t seduce me with a beauty. Even if you try, I won’t do it anymore. Besides, your dad and Helen Wilson’s father are old war buddies; this thing is bound to be exposed sooner or later."
With that said, Gina Lopez also furrowed her brows and asked, "So what should we do?"
Without thinking, James Brown said, "Just say that we’ve broken up."
"Then why don’t you say that you and Helen Wilson have broken up?"
"Helen Wilson and I have already..." James Brown almost let slip the fact that he had slept with Helen Wilson and hastily shut his mouth.
But Gina Lopez quickly pressed on, "Already what? Humph, you didn’t have that kind of thing with her, did you?"
James Brown knew he couldn’t hide it and let out a dry laugh, saying, "Correct."
"You..." Gina Lopez’s breath hitched, and then she gave James Brown a hard pinch, angrily saying, "How could you do this?"
"Why can’t I do this?" James Brown retorted.
"Don’t you have a girlfriend? How could you still do that kind of thing with Helen Wilson?"
"This can only be called an accident, and it won’t affect my relationship with Emma. Plus, as you’ve seen, I’m a fickle guy, not worthy of your concern at all."
If James Brown hadn’t said that, Gina Lopez would still be quite angry, but when he did, she snorted instead, saying, "So what, it’s just sleeping together. I don’t care."
James Brown was really speechless, turning around after a long while, and said to Gina Lopez, "Big sis, have you lost your mind? I’m fickle, irresponsible with feelings, I’m not a good man at all."
Gina Lopez’s mouth curved upwards, forming a beautiful arc, and said, "You realizing your own shortcomings proves that you can be trained. I have confidence that I can make you a faithful and good husband."
James Brown rolled his eyes and turned his back on Gina Lopez once again, not understanding what got into her to be so fixated on him.
Gina Lopez giggled, hugged James Brown from behind again, and gently rubbed her face against his back, but suddenly said, "Today, Emily Lopez took off her socks, did you do that?"
James Brown instantly broke into a cold sweat, but of course, this was something he would never admit to and immediately said, "Nonsense, I didn’t dare to move an inch while I was hiding under the table."
"Of course, if you don’t believe me, go hide there for a while and try it; you’ll suffocate from boredom, how could you mood change to do anything else?"
"I’m not going to try it, but you’d better be honest with Sandra, if you dare do anything to mess with her, I definitely won’t let you off the hook."
"Alright, alright, as if I could, let’s go to sleep."
Gina Lopez really didn’t say anymore after that, she adjusted her posture and just like that, she hugged James Brown and went to sleep peacefully.
However, James Brown still held himself back, forcing himself into a state of deep sleep, though it was torturous, he quickly fell asleep.
The next morning after breakfast, James Brown and Gina Lopez tidied up a bit and prepared to head back to YODC City, while Emily Lopez stayed behind, as she had to bring her mother in for a thorough check-up on Monday. After Gina Lopez made her exhortations, she left with James Brown.
On Monday when work resumed, James Brown arrived at the office. Soon enough, one of his subordinates came to his office. This was a 25-year-old young man named David Clark, with a baby face that was quite likable and a mild temper, making him very popular with the ladies in the company.
"Manager Johnson, good morning." David Clark said with a grin as he approached James Brown’s desk.
James Brown nodded and replied "Morning," and then asked, "What’s up?"
"Manager Johnson..." David Clark giggled again and said, "It seems like there’s a file missing from our department."
"Missing a file?" James Brown looked at David Clark puzzled.
David Clark said earnestly, "Yeah, I’ve never seen the file of that beautiful girl you brought in a while back."
James Brown couldn’t help but laugh out loud, thinking of Lucy Campbell’s visit to the company that still had an impact, he jokingly scolded, "You rascal, it’s the beauty you’re hung up on, not a missing file."
David Clark chuckled and scratched his head, saying, "Manager Johnson, you got me, but everyone’s pretty interested in this, you only let everybody have a glimpse of her, then she was never seen again. We all thought you’d keep her as your personal secretary, but it’s been more than a week, and nobody has seen her."
James Brown tossed David Clark a cigarette, which he quickly caught; people from HR could occasionally score these premium Panda cigarettes from James Brown, but no one really knew the draw of them besides thinking they tasted rather good.
"Stop dwelling on it, she doesn’t meet our company’s hiring standards, so I didn’t hire her."
"What?" David Clark immediately cried out in disbelief, urgently saying, "How can she not meet the standards? She has the looks, the demeanor, do you know how many in the company were fixated on her when she appeared? You’ve shattered the dreams of countless men, on behalf of all the men in the company, I despise you."
James Brown squinted his eyes and said, "You’re going to regret saying what you did today."
David Clark got a fright, suddenly realizing he had just lost his temper at his boss; his face instantly turned pale, he gave a nervous laugh and said, "Manager Johnson, I was out of line; but that beauty, she’s so wonderful, she would have great cohesion in any department of the company."
"It’s precisely because I’m afraid her ’cohesion’ would be too strong, drawing you little monkeys to her side every day, neglecting your own work."
After sending David Clark off, James Brown couldn’t help but smile again to himself; a woman like Lucy Campbell was truly too beautiful, and indeed there was a phrase that could describe her, and that was ’a beauty that brings trouble’.
