Chapter 456 The Strange Family
After returning from the hot springs, Yu Gangan followed Fang Zhihan back to the Jiang Family Home.
As usual, Elder Jiang said resentfully, “Are you going home tomorrow? If you’re going home, then don’t come back. Stop ruining my grandson’s life. My future granddaughter-in-law has to be a beautiful and gentle woman.”
Yu Gangan maintained her smiled and faced him head-on, “Your grandson doesn’t like beautiful women. He likes women like me.”
“So thick-skinned.”
“I apply moisturizer every day and I take good care of my skin.”
“Go, go, go, hurry and pour me a cup of tea. If you please me, then I will let you into the family. If not, then I will break the two of you apart!”
Every word was filled with disgust but Yu Gangan knew that the old man was sentimental and did not want her to leave.
Otherwise, he would not have kept her around for dinner.
“I will brew you some tea with snow water,” Yu Gangan smiled helplessly as she looked at the stubborn old man.
When she looked at him, she was often reminded of her own grandfather. Her grandfather used to say that brewing tea with snow water was the ultimate experience of sophistication. As common people in this turbid world, occasionally treating oneself to something elegant was a blissful experience that was good for the body and mind.
The snow water used for brewing tea had to be pure. The best water came from snow that fell on the third to fifth days of snowing. Beijing’s weather was cold, so snow was common.
This time, the snow had been falling for a week. It was perfect for collecting and brewing tea.
Yu Gangan and Jiang Qi went into the garden and collected snow from among the branches, flowers, and leaves, while Fang Zhihan and Elder Jiang chatted inside.
The weather was too cold. As soon as she returned to the house, Yu Gangan sped up her footsteps. But, she accidentally ran into someone, knocking the documents in his hands onto the floor.
“Sorry, sorry…” Yu Gangan immediately knelt down to pick up the papers. But, one particular document surprised her slightly.
She held it in her hand and looked at it for a moment before someone snatched it away.
Yu Gangan lifted her gaze and looked into a pair of cold, dark eyes.
Next to her, Jiang Qi cried out cautiously, “Uncle Two.”
Yu Gangan looked at the middle-aged man in front of her. This was Jiang Shisheng, Jiang Baian’s father.
The man was in his fifties, but he looked aged and exhausted like an old man. When he saw Yu Gangan, his eyes turned gloomy.
Ignoring Jiang Qi, Jiang Shisheng held onto his documents and entered the house coldly.
Jiang Shisheng couldn’t ignore the matter with Jiang Baian. After all, that was his son. No matter how bad he was, he was still his son; if he acted indifferently towards it, then that would really be a problem.
Elder Jiang knew that there was bound to be a wedge between Fang Zhihan and Jiang Shisheng.
The two men looked quiet and calm, but on the inside, they were filled with turbulence.
Elder Jiang thought for a moment and said with seriousness, “Let the past be the past. We are still a family.”
The three sat there silently. Only, Jiang Qi replied, “Yes, grandfather.”
Due to Jiang Shisheng’s arrival, the dinner wasn’t very enjoyable. Everyone was quiet, maintaining a calm vibe on the surface.
Several times, Yu Gangan accidentally looked into Jiang Shisheng’s deep eyes and sensed his hatred.
A child was the most precious thing to their parent. She was sure Jiang Shisheng couldn’t ignore the matter and continue to treat Fang Zhihan as family.
The calmer the room was, the more disturbing it felt.
After dinner, Fang Zhihan left with Yu Gangan.
On the way home, Yu Gangan sat quietly in the car thinking about the document that she picked up.
When the car stopped at a red light, she turned and asked Fang Zhihan, “Is your uncle completely unaware of the matter with Anhe Health?”
