“Si Mobai…” Feng Tianlan’s hand was scalded by his breath. She felt like the heat from her hand could reach her heart and melt down the wall around her heart.
“It’s my first time, and I’m not very good at this. If it hurts, you can pinch me.” Si Mobai applied the medicine with even more care. He bent over and lowered his head to blow her wound.
Feng Tianlan looked away and swallowed every word she’d intended to say. She decided to just go with the flow. Perhaps things would actually turn out differently.
“Isn’t Your Highness supposed to be protecting her in the shadows? Just now, Tianlan very nearly…” Luo Yunzhu twisted her mouth and grumbled. She felt that if His Highness couldn’t protect Tianlan, then he shouldn’t have made such a grand promise. He claimed to be protecting her in the shadows, but where he was when they were in trouble? He’d only appeared after everything was over.
Feng Tianlan saw that there was no fresh blood on him, but the metallic smell nevertheless mingled with his usual minty fragrance. “You smell like blood.”
“I was chasing some birds away,” Si Mobai quietly replied. He had come late, and Lan’er had been injured. So everything was indeed his fault.
Feng Tianlan frowned and looked up at the blue sky. “Do you mean those birds that suddenly exploded in midair?”
“My Lan’er is so clever.” Si Mobai looked up at her, and the nervousness in his heart instantly disappeared. He no longer feared that she wouldn’t understand him and think that he was only full of empty words. He hadn’t expected her to connect the dots after making such an ambiguous statement.
“Your Highness, what do you mean?” Luo Yunzhu was shocked.
“You mean this was premeditated?” That was Zhang Tiancheng’s first thought.
Chuling widened her eyes in complete disbelief. Something like that could actually happen in a place as large as the Misty Forest?
Azurite squatted down and picked up the faded flower that Feng Tianlan had thrown on the ground. After hesitating, she threw it into the Pill Scroll Realm. She decided to plant it when she had time. Perhaps it would be useful in the future.
“Was it Lin Suyin?” Luo Yunzhu immediately thought that Lin Suyin had done something untoward. Tianlan was her love rival, after all, so she was a natural person to point the finger at. She had a motive worth killing for and knew her way around.
Feng Tianlan looked at the scab on her hand’s wound. She was shocked by the effectiveness of the Blood Clotting Powder. “It wasn’t her.”
Lin Suyin had purposely waited until Yunzhu was about to touch the Man-Eating Flower before telling her what it was. Still, she was undoubtedly not the mastermind behind this assassination attempt. Feng Tianlan could tell that Lin Suyin didn’t want her dead. For now, she was merely trying to get close to her.
“The Misty Forest is so huge. There are terrible dangers and Demonic Beasts everywhere, so who would do this? Don’t tell me that it was a beast?”
Si Mobai gently caressed the newly-dressed wound on Feng Tianlan’s hand. His heart ached so much for her. This hand had nearly been broken by that bite, and she must be in terrible pain.
“Somebody probably captured an eagle, then used a special method to fill the eagle with Spiritual force. Then, while the eagle flew, the Spiritual force concentrated and exploded once it reached a certain point.” Feng Tianlan shook her head. She didn’t really understand the rationale behind this method. But when she thought about it, all these actions indeed were intended to do her harm.
Luo Yunzhu and Zhang Tiancheng exchanged glances. This method of killing was too high-handed, wasn’t it?
“If Si Mobai weren’t around, we probably wouldn’t have been so lucky.” Feng Tianlan saw that Si Mobai had let go of her hand and thought about how Yunzhu had misunderstood him. She couldn’t help but try and defend him.
“Why?” Luo Yunzhu asked because she still didn’t understand. All she saw was that Wargod had come late, while Tianlan had nearly been eaten alive by the Spirit Severing Vine.
Si Mobai looked at Feng Tianlan, then made his way behind her to look at the wound on her back.
