The state preceptor raised his hand and retrieved the painting with his spiritual force. He then rolled it up as he walked and handed it over to her. “Why did the First Miss of the Shen Family come all the way to Jialan Hall?” he asked.
Feng Tianlan looked at the scroll painting that had been handed to her. She then raised her head and looked cautiously at the handsome state preceptor. She couldn’t decide whether to accept the painting or not. He was calling her the First Miss of Shen Family, not Miss Feng.
“The Second Miss of Shen Family has been here before. Through the crystal ball, she saw what the First Miss came to look like after you were resurrected.” The state preceptor’s hand was still reaching out as he told her how Shen Yunya came looking for him as if it was not a big deal.
Feng Tianlan was flooded with curiosity towards that painting. After thinking for a moment, she reached out and grabbed it. “Since the state preceptor saw that, why did she still not know about my identity?”
The state preceptor was so positive. Besides, he didn’t seem surprised at her arrival. The state preceptor was really capable. She couldn’t help but put up her guard against him.
Furthermore, the state preceptor knew about her resurrection. Shen Yunya had also been here before. Why did she still not know about the fact that she had resurrected, not to mention her identity after her resurrection? Feng Tianlan glanced at him as she took a seat opposite him. “I heard that the state preceptor could see things that happened five hundred years into the past and the future?” she asked.
“Since you have a new identity, I shall change how I refer to you.” The state preceptor put the white chess piece that he was holding onto the chessboard. He then raised his head and looked at Feng Tianlan. “What does Miss Feng want to know?”
Feng Tianlan looked at his chessboard. It was a single-sided attack. The black pieces were only defending. After seeing that, she stretched out her slender fingers and put a black chess piece on the board. The black pieces that were on the defense instantly struck back, making the game a tie.
“After Crown Prince Jin came to Jialan Hall, his temperament changed completely. I wanted to know if he found something out during his trip here,” she replied.
After looking at the position of the chess piece Feng Tianlan had placed, the state preceptor raised his head and glanced at her while holding a white piece in his hand. “To know something, one needs to be sincere. Even I don’t know what the Crown Prince saw.”
After saying that, he decided where to put his chess piece. He then placed the white piece in his hand onto the board.
Feng Tianlan realized that the situation had been reversed. Her black pieces were now under attack. She had to sacrifice one piece to save another. However, both pieces were very important to her. No matter which piece she chose to sacrifice, she would still end up being defeated.
“One must lose something to gain something. Miss Feng must not worry too much about gains and losses.” The state preceptor gave her some advice when he saw her hesitating.
After listening to his Zen words, Feng Tianlan glanced at him. She then curled her lips and giggled as she put the black piece on the board and said, “I cannot bear to sacrifice either of the two.”
Right after she placed her black piece, they came to a tie once again. She broke out of the encirclement, fought the enemy, and protected both her front and back. Although she had killed her enemy, she sacrificed herself. She decided to perish with him.
As long as it was something she cared for, she would never choose between two options. She decided to join the fight personally to protect her own people.
