For instance, White Fish, Mai Sui, and Pangpi, these small miscellaneous fish that are especially easy to catch, each only score 0.1 or 0.2 points.
To score a single point, one must catch many such fish, which is very inefficient.
While Crucian Carp scores 0.5 points each, Carp and Grass Carp each score 1 point, even a Catfish is just 2 points... And huge Breams weighing dozens or even hundreds of pounds, surprisingly, only score 3 points.
The scoring table also includes some fish unique to Yunnan Province or other less common fish, which score much higher.
For example, the Seven-star fish, touted as the living fossil among fish, is quite a rare species. Although small in size, catching one is worth 5 points.
Then there is a fish called Big Head Carp, very similar to the Carp in appearance, but with a much bigger head. This species is also unique to Yunnan Province and is found nowhere else.
A Big Head Carp is also worth 5 points, equivalent to five regular Carps.
But in this scoring chart, there are four fish that hold the highest value, their names listed at the very bottom.
The first is: Erhai Bowfish!
The second is: Dianchi Golden Line Barbel!
The third is: Fuxian Lake Anti-wave White Fish!
The fourth is: Lugu Lake Split Belly Fish!
These four fish are marked in red and each scores 10 points.
This score is ten times that of Carp and Grass Carp, and one hundred times that of miscellaneous fish like White Fish.
Li Xiaopeng, standing by, couldn’t help clicking his tongue and said, "What kind of immortals are these four fish, and why are they so valuable?"
Lin Yang replied, "These four fish are indeed valuable and also extremely difficult to catch because they are known as the four famous fish of Yunnan. Interestingly, these fish are only found in the four lakes where we will be fishing.
For example, only Erhai has Bow Fish, and Dianchi is the only place with Golden Line Barbel. The other two fish are similar, and all four are highly rare and protected species; their numbers have drastically decreased. You might not encounter even one such fish among ten Carp or Grass Carp, so a score of 10 points per fish is not high."
Although Lin Yang had previously fished for Golden Line Barbel at Mingyue Mountain, it was another species under the Golden Line Barbel category, which is a collective name for all Golden Line Barbels, all of which are secondary national protected animals.
