Hui Province’s first competition, unsurprisingly to most, was set in the provincial capital, Lu Zhou.
However, the rules were completely different from those in Modu.
Previously, the competition in Modu focused on catching a single target fish, and the top three weights were ranked.
But this round adopted a brand-new system.
Now, it was no longer about catching a single fish species, but the opposite, requiring different fish species to be caught.
The competition requires participants to fish for different species within the same water system.
For each type of fish, only one may be selected for inclusion in the total weight.
However, there is no limit on the number of fish species!
In other words, if you catch only one type of fish, even dozens or hundreds, only the largest one counts towards the total weight.
But if you catch ten types of fish, you can choose the heaviest from each species, calculating the total weight from ten fish.

The competition rules allow any fish species to count towards the score, but only the largest can be chosen.
Thus, the key to the competition lies in two aspects.
One is to catch as many different fish species as possible, and the other is to catch the largest fish of each species.
Yet, there’s an emphasis; large fish species are obviously much more important than small ones.
For example, if a team has already caught a 30-pound Bream, they could choose to catch another species, like Fat Head weighing 20 pounds.
In this way, their total score will be 50 pounds.
Another strategy might be to continue catching Bream. If they catch one weighing 50 pounds, their total score would also be 50 pounds.
Both methods can improve scores.
Hence, one needs to have skill and luck, but also strategy.
