Thinking of her mother, Ye Ranran’s face was filled with sorrow.
She was only ten when her mother passed away. Since she could remember, her mother was always in poor health, which only worsened over time.
Her mother had wished for her father’s company, but he never even glanced at her.
"My mom said that dad pursued her. I’m sure she had no idea that dad liked someone else, otherwise, she would never have married him."
Ye Ranran lowered her gaze, clenching her fists.
Jun Mochan pulled her into his arms: "Don’t think too much. I will have people investigate the past. If they’ve done your mother wrong, I’ll make sure justice is served."
"Jun Mochan, thank you." Ye Ranran reached out and hugged Jun Mochan.
Jun Mochan leaned closer to her, his lips almost touching her face: "Gratitude isn’t just expressed with words."
Ye Ranran’s hands boldly slipped under his shirt, wandering around randomly, stirring the heat.
Jun Mochan gripped her and pinned her to the bed: "Let me show you."
After a night of passion, Ye Ranran almost arrived late for work the next day.
The incident did not affect her work. As the party in high society had nothing to do with ordinary people.
However, that didn’t mean everything was calm at the company. Seeing Ye Ranran arrive, Luo Qi rushed over: "Ranran, something’s not right."
"Something big!" Luo Qi placed an entertainment magazine before her.
The headline was about a rising starlet. Ye Ranran glanced at it: "What does this have to do with us? You’re here to work, not read gossip."
Without a word, Luo Qi opened his computer, clicking away. More news about the starlet appeared.
The starlet had recently accepted a role in a drama called "The Cold CEO Loves Me", which was similar in style to the one Huacan about to start filming.
The point wasn’t that. The point was that the clothing the starlet was wearing at her start of filming was designed by Ye Ranran.
Upon closer inspection, it wasn’t exactly the same, but more like ninety percent similar. This already constituted a major problem.
If they had the same style of clothing and somebody else began shooting earlier, everyone would naturally assume that Huacan was plagiarising.
"No wonder it looked so good. It was a plagiarised design," Ling Yun said in a sarcastic, gloating tone.
"Shut up! Ranran drew the design herself. You have neither proof nor reason to accuse her of plagiarism. For all you know, someone else has plagiarised her work," Luo Qi retaliated.
"And what proof do you have that she didn’t plagiarise?" Luo Qi shot back.
"Enough, stop fighting. I’ll handle it." Ye Ranran picked up her design notebook and left.
"Handle this? And how exactly will you do that? Discard the design? We’re about to start shooting, do we even have time for that? How are we going to explain to J.C?" Ling Yun scoffed.
Quickening her pace to escape Ling Yun’s gloating words, Ye Ranran continued on.
"Director," Ye Ranran knocked on the door twice, not waiting for an answer she entered.
The Director didn’t look pleased to see her but gave a slight nod: "You’ve arrived just in time, I was about to find you."
"I have no idea about what’s happening online, but I believe we should change the design as soon as possible, I think we still have time," Ye Ranran said.
"Have time? The actors and director are already here, shooting starts the day after tomorrow, how would you possibly have time?" The Director raged.
