The only thing they had in common was that they were all leering at her.
"Tell me your price, I can afford it," said the man with the Mediterranean skin, in a tone dripping with nouveau riche arrogance.
"Yeah, you shouldn’t push people away like that, it takes the fun out of it," chimed in the man with the pointed chin and cheekbones.
"You’re already selling yourself, so stop being so coy. Here’s my business card, you can go with them first, I don’t mind if you’re ’used’ by the time you get to me," chimed in the man with the beer belly.
He’s not that rich, so he stopped pretending to be a tycoon.
Xia Shi forcefully slapped the business card out of his hand and stomped on it.
"What the hell are you talking about? I’ll have you know, if you keep bothering me, I’ll call the police on you," Xia Shi was irate.
"You’ve already done the ****, why bother pretending to be virtuous?" sneered the man with the beer belly.
"Exactly, if you weren’t pretty, do you think I’d even be interested in you?" chimed in the Mediterranean-skinned man.
"What are you talking about? Explain," a sense of dread began to form in Xia Shi’s heart.
The Mediterranean man unlocked his phone and opened a **** website. Upon seeing the photos on the website, Xia Shi’s vision darkened and she nearly passed out.
"Get lost, all of you get lost!" Xia Shi grabbed the man’s mobile phone and tossed it at him.
The man who was hit lost his temper, reaching out to grab Xia Shi. Xia Shi shot up her foot, her heel landing squarely on the man’s foot, then viciously twisted it.
"Ahh." The man let out a shriek akin to that of a pig being slaughtered.
"Are you not leaving?" Xia Shi removed her foot.
Terrified by Xia Shi’s bravery, the other two quickly scrambled away.
Applause rang out from behind her.
Xia Shi turned around and saw Ye Ranran, her face fell: "Is it you?"
"If not me, who else did you expect? My husband?" Even if he saw, he probably wouldn’t care.
That’s the kind of man Jun Mochan is.
"Let me tell you, don’t expect your triumph to last." Xia Shi regarded Ye Ranran with a proud look.
Ye Ranran sized her up: "Where does this misplaced confidence come from?"
Xia Shi didn’t answer her, raising her head high as she strutted away like a proud peacock.
"Watch the steps," Ye Ranran called after her.
Unfortunately, Xia Shi completely ignored her. The result? She missed a step and tumbled to the ground.
Ye Ranran sauntered over, standing above her: "Miss Xia, do you need help?"
"Who needs your false kindness?" Xia Shi gritted out through the pain.
"How presumptuous, I was simply asking," Ye Ranran shrugged and stepped over Xia Shi.
Xia Shi cried out in pain once more.
When Xia Shi was sent to the hospital, Huo’s mother came to visit her after her appointment with Xu Zi was over.
Seeing bandages wrapped around Xia Shi’s hand and thigh, Huo’s mother wore a distressed look: "What happened here? Who bullied you? Tell Mama Huo, and I’ll teach them a lesson for you."
Huo’s mother had watched Xia Shi grow up. Jun Mochan and Huo Yi were often not home, and Xia Shi would come keep her company in her leisure time.
She essentially considered Xia Shi to be her daughter at this point, which was why she was so eager to make Xia Shi her daughter-in-law.
As it so happened, Xia Shi had a fondness for Jun Mochan. This was why she had eagerly played matchmaker.
"Mama Huo, please stop asking," Xia Shi said, her face creased with discomfort.
"What do you mean stop asking? You’ve been injured so severely. If your parents and grandpa find out, they’d be heartbroken! Hurry and tell me, who did this to you?"
