"Take your time washing up, I need a break," Ye Ranran said, panting heavily.
Number One propped himself against the washbasin to steady his body, squirting toothpaste onto his toothbrush as he spoke, "Don’t you exercise regularly?"
"Given the choice between standing and sitting, what do you think I’d choose? I barely have time to sleep, let alone exercise!"
"Those are just excuses. The young master is busy every day but still manages to find time to exercise." One began brushing his teeth, the foam in his mouth making his speech rather indistinct, but Ye Ranran understood him nonetheless.
She recalled Jun Mochan mentioning that she needed to exercise more, so he had intended to help her do so.
However, his idea of ’exercise’ was dragging her into sexual encounters with him.
Ye Ranran’s face turned crimson seemingly uncontrollably.
After waiting for a response that didn’t come, One turned around to look at her after he finished brushing his teeth.
Seeing her flushed face, he raised an eyebrow. "Why? Are you embarrassed?"
One, still quite innocent when it came to matters of intimacy, naturally did not understand what was going through Ye Ranran’s mind.
"Are you done yet?" Ye Ranran asked, glaring at him.
One didn’t understand why she was irritable for no apparent reason, but he assumed it was just typical female behavior, so he didn’t question her.
"I’m done," One declared, casually wiping his face before tossing the towel aside.
Disapproving of his lack of care, Ye Ranran picked up the towel and painstakingly dried his face for him.
"Even though you’re a man, you’re not married yet, right? In this day and age, where looks are everything, you should take better care of yours," she advised earnestly.
Her gentle touch gave One the odd sensation of being cared for, which made him uncomfortable.
"Mind your own business. Who do you think you are to me? I haven’t taken you home, stop acting like you’re the lady of the house!" One blurted out angrily.
One’s words hit a sore spot for Ye Ranran. Why did everyone assume that she was overreaching by being with Jun Mochan?
Wasn’t it him who came onto her in the first place? Was it not him who proposed marriage? Why did it suddenly seem like she was brazenly seducing him?
"Whether or not I’m the lady of the house is none of your business. Remember, you’re the one who needs my help now." Ye Ranran’s voice gained intensity.
One didn’t understand why she suddenly turned aggressive and said apologetically, "I was just reminding you not to be too self-important!"
Ye Ranran was truly irritated: "What’s my role? At the very least, I’m Jun Mochan’s wife in the legal sense. He proposed, we had a wedding ceremony, according to tradition, you should call me ’Madam’!"
"I don’t understand why you all think that love has to be about being ’worthy.’ Love is inherently unequal. You may not like me, but in the eyes of those who love me, I’m the best." Ye Ranran spoke clearly, her countenance proud.
Yes, Jun Mochan was fantastic, but she wasn’t far behind either.
"He may shine brightly, but I’ve never lived in his shadow. He may be highly capable, but I’ve never wanted to rely on his strength."
She was self-reliant and determined. Even if she had to take it one step at a time, she would make it to his side.
Seeing the confidence on Ye Ranran’s face, One felt a peculiar sensation in his heart, but he quickly suppressed it.
"I hope you have this same resolve when facing the elder master."
"I will, no matter what happens, I won’t give up on him." Ye Ranran was certain.
One was quite skeptical, believing that women’s words should be taken with a grain of salt.
