As the car approached the back door of Mei Se, One ordered men to blindfold and gag Gao Han, Ye Tianjing, and Ye Tianjiao.
Gao Han, surprisingly, wasn’t sent away by Ye Ranran and was quite happy to follow along.
Ye Tianjing and Ye Tianjiao wanted to struggle, but their hands and feet were fully restrained, unable to budge.
"Madam, please be careful." One assisted Ye Ranran forward.
The path, concealed between buildings, was somewhat dim even during daytime.
With One’s help, Ye Ranran proceeded carefully.
About ten minutes later, a large door appeared before Ye Ranran. Inside was a dark storeroom.
Past the storeroom was an elevator.
Taking the elevator down to the first basement level led to a dark world.
The doctor, whom Ye Ranran had met before, was waiting downstairs. Jun Mochan referred to him as Uncle Li.
"Uncle Li." Ye Ranran greeted him amiably.
Impressed by her polite demeanor, Uncle Li nodded approvingly, "Good to see you, Madam."
"No need for formalities." Ye Ranran stepped aside, revealing Ye Tianjiao behind her. "I trust Uncle Li knows why I’m here."
She was straightforward, without any nonsense — a trait Uncle Li appreciated.
"One has mentioned it to me. Might there be any particular instructions from you, Madam?" Did she want things done cleanly or a bit untidy?
Ye Ranran tilted her head, her red lips curling slightly into a smile. "A kind-hearted person like me would never intend to harm others. You understand that, don’t you, Uncle Li?"
"Of course, of course. Rest assured, Madam, it will be done soon."
How nice it was to talk to clever people, Ye Ranran was pleased. "I’ll leave this to you, Uncle Li. I am a bit tired, I need some rest."
"By the way, don’t let unrelated people follow me." Her words were directed to One.
"Don’t worry, who could get near you without my permission?" His response was highly possessive. Ye Ranran wondered if she would be happier if it had been Jun Mochan who said those words instead.
"Ranran." Gao Han desired to approach her but was blocked. He couldn’t even get close to her.
He realized how distantly he had drifted from her.
Ye Ranran turned around, her eyes slightly hardened, a smile on her lips. "Leave. Don’t look for me again."
She would let Wang Ya go and wouldn’t scheme against him anymore; from now on, they would be strangers.
Once loved, once hated, then moved on; now she was just tired.
Unless absolutely necessary, she really didn’t have the energy for excessive scheming.
"Ranran, I want to talk to you." Gao Han pleaded with her.
"Everything that needed to be said and those that didn’t between you and me has been said." Saying this, without waiting for his response, Ye Ranran turned and departed.
Watching her retreating back, Gao Han wanted to hold her back but realized it would be futile.
One, looking thoughtful, glanced back at him and finally gave in to his curiosity. "Who is he to you?"
The rare bit of gossip from One made Ye Ranran ask, "Why suddenly asking that?"
"If you won’t tell, that’s fine." He would have someone look into it.
One wouldn’t admit that he was paying attention to her. He was just protecting her now, and it was necessary for him to understand the people in her surroundings.
"He’s my ex-boyfriend, he chose my sister instead of me at the time we were supposed to get married." Ye Ranran reported nonchalantly.
The past was the past, she had moved on. Speaking about it now didn’t cause her much sadness.
