Luo Qi had just stepped out, and no one was in the hospital room except Luo’s mother, who was deep in sleep.
Qingli didn’t rush her, standing quietly in front of the sickbed.
Perhaps Qingli’s gaze was too intense, Luo’s mother woke up from her sleep.
"Who are you?" Seeing a stranger, Luo’s mother eyed her warily.
"Who am I? Why don’t you ask your precious daughter?"
Qingli’s words had no overt affection or disgust, Luo’s mother was unsure what she meant, and could only reply, "Are you a friend of Xiao Qi? She’s not here right now, you can wait a bit or call her."
"No, I came to talk to you."
At Qingli’s words, a question mark appeared in Luo’s mother’s eyes, "What do you want with me?"
"I want to tell you to stop your daughter from pestering my boyfriend. He’s feeling quite helpless about her, and I assume you don’t want your daughter to be a home wrecker, right?"
"No, who’s your boyfriend? My daughter already has a boyfriend. They’re about to get engaged, and I know my daughter, she would never destroy someone else’s family or be the other woman." Luo’s mother replied, sounding somewhat agitated.
She knew Luo Qi’s temperament the best. Even in the toughest times, she never did anything against her conscience.
How could she possibly do what this young woman was suggesting and destroy someone else’s family?
"My boyfriend’s name is Wen Chuan, you really don’t know him?" Qingli dropped a bombshell.
Her head buzzing as if something had exploded inside, Luo’s mother thought she must be mishearing, and asked again involuntarily, "What did you just say? What’s your boyfriend’s name?"
Qingli kindly repeated it.
"That’s impossible." Luo’s mother immediately rebutted.
"Why? Don’t believe me?" Qingli pulled out a stack of pictures from her bag, "I bet your daughter hasn’t shown you these, hasn’t she?"
In the photos, Ah Chuan and Qingli made a couple, both with slight smiles on their faces.
It’s rare to see any facial expression on Ah Chuan, who usually has a poker face.
If Luo Qi were here, she would immediately recognize these photos from a while back.
"If you still don’t believe me, I do have audio recording." Qingli pulled out a voice recorder.
It was a recording of her crying in Ah Chuan’s arms after she just had a miscarriage.
She was crying heartbrokenly back then, Ah Chuan, never used to comforting others, was clumsily trying to comfort her, "Don’t be sad, there will be more opportunities in the future."
Although the voice was a bit rigid, the gentleness in it wasn’t hard to detect.
Upon hearing the recording, Luo’s mother’s heart raced in anxiety, how could this be? But it didn’t seem fake either.
"Believe me now? My relationship with him was going great until your daughter barged in." Qingli said, ignoring the stiffening expression on Luo’s mother’s face as she retrieved her voice recorder.
"Could there be some misunderstanding here?" Luo’s mother still couldn’t believe Luo Qi was the other woman.
She had utmost confidence in her daughter.
"What misunderstanding? The day I had a quarrel with my boyfriend, he went to the bar to drown his sorrows. Coincidentally, your daughter was there too. Both got drunk and ended up in bed together."
"Did she ever mention any of this to you?" Seeing Luo’s mother’s increasingly ugly expression, Qingli smugly asked.
She was sure no daughter would ever share such a thing with her mother.
Luo’s mother’s blood pressure shot up, she had previously asked about this.
