Mrs. Huo nodded, "Let’s go. Oh, remember to come home for dinner tonight."
Just as Jun Mochan was about to refuse, Ye Ranran squeezed his palm.
"I’ll make a few of your favorite dishes tonight." Mrs. Huo said, leaving happily with Xu Zi.
Xu Zi looked back at Ye Ranran. Just as she was about to look away, Jun Mochan turned his head and Xu Zi met his deep, dark gaze.
His seemingly bottomless eyes were like a deep abyss. Once they made contact, one’s senses would shatter.
Frightened, Xu Zi quickly averted her eyes.
"What were you looking at?"
Jun Mochan withdrew his gaze, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, preventing her from turning her head, "Nothing."
Seeing his silence, Ye Ranran, as always, chose not to ask.
After the check-up, Ye Ranran sat alone on a bench in the hallway, waiting for Jun Mochan.
She didn’t understand why he didn’t let her accompany him this time. But she decided not to overthink things she didn’t understand.
Having him by her side made her feel at ease.
When Song Ze stepped out after the check-up, he saw Ye Ranran quietly sitting in the chair.
She was looking out the window, revealing to him only a side profile. The dappled light from outside made her face look like it was flickering.
Her face was devoid of the earlier alertness and sharpness, making her look naturally beautiful.
Sensing an intrusive gaze, Ye Ranran looked towards the source and saw Song Ze. The smile on her face gradually faded.
"Are you here for a check-up?" Ye Ranran asked, guessing the reason for his appearance.
Before Song Ze could reply, she added, "Such a delicate face you have, it hasn’t healed even after so many days. You really are a pretty boy."
Being called feminine, Song Ze had heard it a lot since he was a child. Those who called him ended up with a sorry fate.
Not one of them had a good ending.
"You surely are bold, Ranran. Do you know people who said that about me usually ended up six feet under?"
"Proverbial grass growing on their graves? Didn’t they have any relatives?"
Song Ze was confused by her question, "I don’t know."
"How can you say something you don’t know? Even if they didn’t have any relatives, they would bury them in a cemetery. There would be no grass on their tombstones, only around it. Haven’t you ever visited a cemetery?" Ye Ranran looked at him scornfully.
Realizing he was being mocked, a hint of anger flashed in Song Ze’s eyes, "Ye Ranran."
"Why are you shouting? I’m not deaf."
"The more I interact with you Ranran, the more impressed I am." Song Ze took a seat next to Ye Ranran.
Ye Ranran immediately shifted away. Song Ze followed, taking the vacated seat.
Ye Ranran glared at him, "What the hell do you want?"
To make a fuss over a few teases? Why is he holding onto it?
Song Ze played with a strand of Ye Ranran’s hair, "Can’t you tell, Ranran? I’m teasing you."
Ye Ranran: "..." He was so unapologetic about it, she was momentarily speechless.
"My husband will be here soon. If you try anything, you’re asking for a beating." Ye Ranran stood up.
His presence was so strong, whether he spoke or not. She didn’t want to be anywhere near him.
She couldn’t understand. He was just there for a check-up, couldn’t he do that at home? Why did he come to the hospital?
"You mean Jun Mochan? What’s so great about him? What do you see in him? Why not tell me?" Song Ze persistently followed her.
Seeing no escape, Ye Ranran stood her ground, lifted her proud head, and looked Song Ze up and down. Her gaze roamed over him as if she were inspecting vegetables at a market.
