"If it isn’t me, then who? It’s just the minor, low-budget projects that you guys can have," Ling Yun arrogantly declared, picking up her bag from the table and leaving.
Luo Qi stomped her foot in anger, "RanRan, look at her, and listen to the way she talks. She behaves as though we are only fit to take her leftovers."
"Why get angry? She’s not wrong. You either have to outshine her or accept it." Tang Xin stood up from her seat, "Alright, it’s time to get off work. Goodbye, everyone."
Qin Fang stood up but said nothing. He quickly ran out of the room.
"And back to chasing Ling Yun again. He asks Ling Yun to dinner every day, even brings breakfast for her. His intentions couldn’t be clearer," Luo Qi said with a contemptuous look on her face.
"Alright, we’re off work now. Let’s quickly go home," Ye Ranran said as she shut down her computer.
"I’ll walk with you. By the way, where do you live?" Luo Qi asked.
Ye Ranran’s face turned slightly unnatural. Every day, she had been waiting for everyone else to leave before heading across to J.C Group to meet up with Jun Mochan as he got off work.
"I’m waiting to go home with my husband. We live quite far away."
"You’re married?" Luo Qi exclaimed in surprise and immediately reached over to grab Ye Ranran’s hand.
Her eyes widened at the sight of the shiny diamond ring, "It’s so sparkly! How much did this cost?"
Ye Ranran pulled her hand back, feeling slightly uncomfortable, "You’re overthinking. It’s actually fake; I bought it for a few hundred on a well-known shopping website."
"Send me the link, I want to buy one too." It was so sparkly that it could pass as a real one.
Ye Ranran choked, her face turning slightly red, "You’re not getting married, why would you buy wedding rings? Besides, it was on sale when I bought it. It’s not that cheap anymore."
"Alright then, I was just thinking of seeing if they have anything suitable for me. What does your husband do? Does he work at Huacan?" Luo Qi inquired.
Faced with the gossip-loving Luo Qi, Ye Ranran was feeling tired. Seeing the time, she grabbed her bag and headed for the door, "My husband is off work, I need to go."
"Why the hurry? Wait for me!" Luo Qi ran after her, squeezing onto the same elevator as Ye Ranran.
This time, she definitely had to speak up.
"My husband works nearby but not at Huacan. He is just a regular employee." Ye Ranran uncomfortably lied.
She couldn’t possibly tell her that her husband was the CEO of JC Group across the street.
"I figured. Otherwise, your wedding ring wouldn’t be a few hundred yuan and you would live closer. How do you guys commute to and from work?" Luo Qi queried again.
"We bought a second-hand car," Ye Ranran reluctantly forced a smile.
Luo Qi nodded, "That’s good, at least you don’t have to squeeze onto the subway."
"Ding." The elevator finally arrived.
Ye Ranran sighed with relief, quickly stepping out of it.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw a familiar car, her heart pounding as she slowed down slightly.
Then, as if she hadn’t seen it, she walked forward without a second glance.
"Madam." Ah Chuan, who assumed she hadn’t noticed him, quickly got out of the car and waved at her.
Ye Ranran felt an urge to chop his hand off. Catching sight of Luo Qi looking the other way, she hurried into the car.
"Why the rush?" Jun Mochan looked up from his documents, noting her flushed face and frowned in worry.
"Didn’t I tell you? Your injury isn’t healed completely yet. You shouldn’t be making strenuous movements. Have you forgotten again?"
Seeing his anxious face, Ye Ranran lunged at him, wrapping her arms around his neck, "It’s nothing, don’t worry."
